IRCTC Introduces NFT Tickets: Commemorative Holi-Themed Digital Souvenirs for Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Trains

NFT Access: Eligibility for Tejas Trains 82501 and 82502 Passengers Starting March 20

On March 13, the digital assets landscape in India witnessed a significant milestone as the NFT sector received official recognition from the Indian Railways. In a spirited tribute to the festival of Holi, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) unveiled vibrant NFT tickets for two Tejas trains plying between Delhi and Lucknow. As a central public sector enterprise under the governance of the Ministry of Railways, IRCTC’s embrace of NFT technology underscores its commitment to innovation and customer engagement within the realm of railway services.

Previewed through its active presence on social media platform X, IRCTC offered a sneak peek into the visually captivating NFTs, which feature evocative sketches of iconic landmarks from both Delhi and Lucknow, set against vividly hued backgrounds. Commencing March 20, passengers purchasing tickets for Tejas trains numbered 82501 and 82502 will have the opportunity to access these exclusive NFTs, with the initiative slated to run until April 2.

Beyond serving as mere digital mementos, these NFT tickets offer a range of additional benefits, as elucidated by IRCTC in its X post. Describing them as more than just souvenirs, the corporation emphasized their role in enhancing the travel experience, enabling passengers to personalize their journey memories with personal photographs and unlock exclusive offers from curated brands.

The digital assets industry in India marked a landmark day on March 13 after the NFT sector got a straightforward acknowledgement from the Indian railways. In a bid to celebrate the spirit of Holi, the IRCTC has unveiled colourful NFT tickets for two Tejas trains running between the cities of Delhi and Lucknow. The IRCTC or the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is a central public sector enterprise governed by the Ministry of Railways in the country.

IRCTC unveiled the first look of these NFTs through its very active X handle. From the looks of it, these NFTs will show sketches of the historic landmarks of Delhi and Lucknow against colourfully shaded backdrops. Starting March 20, ticket buyers of Tejas trains numbered 82501 and 82502 will be eligible to get access to these NFTs. This initiative will conclude on April 2.

The NFTs also come with some benefits the IRCTC explained in its X post. It said, “These tickets are not merely digital souvenirs. They symbolise our dedication to enriching your journey experiences, allowing you to personalise your travel memories with your own photographs and enjoy exclusive offers from handpicked brands,”.
