One UI 8.5 Beta Hints at Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Private Display Feature

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to introduce an AI-driven privacy screen, and the latest One UI 8.5 beta has provided a closer look at how this feature works. Named Privacy Display, the functionality aims to protect user content by reducing screen visibility from side angles, ensuring that sensitive information remains private even in public settings. Early beta listings in the Samsung Tips app suggest that this feature could make the display dim or appear darker when viewed from the side, making it harder for onlookers to read what’s on your phone.
Privacy Display was spotted by SamMobile in the recent One UI 8.5 beta firmware. According to the beta, the feature is designed to automatically adjust the display’s brightness and contrast depending on viewing angles. By dimming the edges of the screen or reducing side visibility, it essentially creates a personal viewing zone, offering users added privacy without the need for physical screen protectors or filters.
Users will reportedly be able to enable Privacy Display directly through the Settings app or via a Quick Panel toggle. In addition, the feature is expected to integrate with Samsung’s Modes and Routines app, allowing automation based on specific conditions, such as location or device orientation. This means the screen could automatically enter privacy mode in public spaces or in other user-defined situations, providing seamless and context-aware protection.
The technology behind Privacy Display is said to rely on Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel system, which allows precise control of how light is emitted across the screen. This combination of software and hardware ensures that privacy is maintained without sacrificing display clarity for the main user.
