Samsung is gearing up to introduce a new privacy-focused display feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and early details have surfaced through the One UI 8.5 beta. The feature, referred to as Privacy Display, appears to use AI to intelligently limit on-screen visibility from wider viewing angles. This would help protect sensitive information in public spaces by making the screen harder to read from the side.

According to information found within the Samsung Tips app in the latest One UI 8.5 beta, the Privacy Display dynamically adjusts screen brightness and contrast when the device detects off-axis viewing. As a result, content may look noticeably dimmer or darker to anyone not viewing the display head-on, while remaining clear for the primary user.

Reports suggest the feature is powered by Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel technology, which enables precise control over pixel-level light emission. This hardware-based approach allows Samsung to restrict viewing angles without relying on traditional physical privacy filters, preserving display quality when viewed directly.

Users are expected to have flexible control over the Privacy Display. It can reportedly be switched on manually via the Settings menu or the Quick Panel, and may also support automation through Samsung’s Modes and Routines. This would allow the feature to activate automatically based on conditions such as location, ensuring privacy protection is enabled whenever it’s needed most.
