Amazon Shares Soar as AI Boom Drives AWS Cloud Growth and Record Investor Optimism

Amazon shares surged more than 11% in early trading on Friday after its cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), reported strong growth and a bullish sales outlook that reassured investors of its position in the AI race.

AWS revenue rose 20% in the third quarter, reaching $33 billion — more than double Google Cloud’s $15.16 billion — cementing Amazon’s dominance in the cloud market. While Microsoft Azure’s 40% growth outpaced AWS in percentage terms, analysts said the scale of AWS’s business made its rebound even more significant.

“There were concerns about AWS losing market share to Microsoft and Google,” said Jed Ellerbroek of Argent Capital. “But now AWS is clearly back on track — investors expected this turnaround next year, and it’s arrived early.”

The strong quarter helped Amazon’s stock outperform rivals Apple and Tesla in year-to-date gains, lifting it out of the bottom spot among the “Magnificent Seven” tech giants. CEO Andy Jassy said AWS is “growing at a pace we haven’t seen since 2022,” driven by soaring demand for AI and infrastructure services.

Beyond cloud computing, Amazon’s retail and advertising segments also delivered impressive results. Retail sales grew 11% year-over-year, while ad revenue surged 24% to $17.7 billion, boosted by expanded placements across Echo devices and grocery stores. Following the results, at least 23 brokerages raised their price targets for Amazon, reflecting renewed confidence in the company’s long-term AI strategy.

Salesforce projects over $60 billion in revenue by 2030 as AI rollout accelerates

Salesforce has raised its long-term outlook, forecasting revenue of more than $60 billion by 2030, surpassing Wall Street’s expectations of $58.37 billion. The projection, revealed during the company’s Dreamforce event, underscores confidence in its aggressive push to integrate artificial intelligence across all cloud services.

The forecast excludes the impact of Salesforce’s pending $8 billion acquisition of Informatica, a deal aimed at strengthening the company’s AI and data management capabilities. Informatica’s software helps businesses handle complex data integration and governance — key to powering AI-driven decision-making across Salesforce’s platform.

The company’s new Agentforce AI platform, which automates tasks and enhances operational efficiency, is expected to play a major role in future growth. Salesforce said Agentforce 360 will soon be available globally across its cloud suite, offering businesses new tools to improve productivity and cut costs.

Despite economic uncertainty and cautious corporate spending, Salesforce remains optimistic. Its shares jumped nearly 4% in after-hours trading following the announcement, even as the stock is still down 29% this year.

In addition to its growth forecast, Salesforce unveiled a $7 billion share buyback program to be completed over the next six months — a signal of confidence in its long-term profitability and cash flow strength.

Oracle Stock Soars on AI Cloud Deals as Ellison Nears Musk in Wealth Rankings

Oracle shares rocketed nearly 43% to a record high on Wednesday, putting the software giant within reach of the $1 trillion market cap club. The surge comes after Oracle unveiled four multi-billion-dollar contracts, positioning itself as a rising force in the global AI cloud race.

The Wall Street Journal reported that OpenAI has signed a staggering $300 billion contract with Oracle for computing power over five years — one of the largest cloud deals ever inked. Most of Oracle’s newly announced revenue gains stem from this partnership, analysts said.

The stock hit a high of $345.69, set for its biggest one-day percentage gain since 1992. If momentum holds, Oracle will add $234 billion in market value, bringing it to about $913 billion. Shares are already up 45% this year, outperforming the Magnificent Seven tech stocks and the broader S&P 500.

Ellison Closes in on Musk

The rally boosted co-founder Larry Ellison’s net worth by nearly $100 billion, to $392.6 billion, according to Forbes. Ellison, 81, is now within striking distance of Elon Musk, whose wealth stands at $439.9 billion.

AI Cloud Momentum

Oracle’s cloud business has seen explosive growth thanks to partnerships with Amazon, Microsoft, and Alphabet, which now allow customers to run Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) alongside their native services. Revenue from these collaborations rose 16-fold in Q1.

CEO Safra Catz told investors: “Over the next few months, we expect to sign up several additional multi-billion-dollar customers, and RPO is likely to exceed half-a-trillion dollars.”

Oracle is also a participant in Stargate, the $500 billion AI infrastructure project backed by SoftBank and OpenAI, which analysts say could provide revenues well into the next decade.

Market Impact

The earnings also lifted semiconductor suppliers Nvidia, Broadcom, and AMD, whose shares climbed 2–8% on expectations of higher demand for data center chips. Rival CoreWeave saw its stock jump about 15%.

With Oracle trading at 33.34x forward earnings, it now commands a valuation premium over Amazon (32.34x) and Microsoft (30.83x), underscoring how investors see its AI-driven growth story as one of the strongest in tech.
