U.S. officials have revised earlier statements about a China-linked cyber campaign, clarifying that several government agencies were targets of attempted intrusions rather than confirmed victims. The Justice Department updated its August 26 announcement to say that the U.S. Senate, Federal Reserve, NASA and other agencies were among the targets of a Chinese state-sponsored hacking group identified as QTFY. An earlier version of the statement had described those organizations as victims. The DOJ said the correction was made because the supporting affidavit showed that while all of the agencies were targeted, only some were successfully compromised. The distinction significantly narrows the…
Chinese ride-hailing company Didi Global plans to invest more than $200 million in Argentina this year as it expands into smaller cities and develops new safety technologies. The company sees Argentina as one of its highest-priority global markets and plans to expand services including Didi Moto, its lower-cost motorcycle ride option, and last-mile transportation designed to complement public transit. Didi currently operates in more than 350 locations across Argentina and expects the number of drivers using its platform to increase 25% this year to more than 500,000. The company forecasts at least another 10% increase in drivers in 2027. The…
A Chinese humanoid robot has completed a 100-meter sprint in 8.64 seconds, beating Usain Bolt’s human world record of 9.58 seconds and highlighting rapid advances in robotic mobility. The robot, Tiangong Ultra, reached an average speed of nearly 42 kph (26 mph) during its fastest run. Experts said the achievement demonstrates major improvements in balance, motors and control systems, but also shows that robots are not simply reproducing human running. Unlike human sprinters, Tiangong starts from an upright position rather than using starting blocks and initially accelerates more slowly. Its advantage comes later, when powerful electric motors allow it to…
OpenAI said it plans to stop supplying its AI models to Cursor, the coding platform now owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, escalating the long-running dispute between Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. OpenAI said it could no longer be confident that SpaceX would use its technology in accordance with contractual terms, citing previous disputes involving Musk-controlled companies. The company has proposed November 12, 2026 as the cutoff date. OpenAI said its agreement with Cursor allows it to terminate the relationship within a limited period following a change in ownership. SpaceX completed its acquisition of Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, earlier…
Anthropic is set to spend about $45 billion to rent artificial intelligence computing capacity from cloud infrastructure provider Nscale, according to a person familiar with the agreement. The six-year deal will give Anthropic access to roughly 460 megawatts of capacity at Nscale’s data center campus in West Virginia, supporting the company’s rapidly growing demand for AI training and inference. Nscale is expected to deploy Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin chips for the project, giving Anthropic access to some of the latest hardware designed for large-scale AI workloads. The agreement comes as Anthropic prepares for a major public listing and continues to…
The United States said it has disrupted a China-linked cyber operation accused of targeting sensitive government agencies including the Justice Department, NASA, the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Senate. The Justice Department said it seized domains connected to two hacking platforms, QScan and QTRouter, which were allegedly used in cyber campaigns against government institutions, critical infrastructure and private companies. Authorities linked the platforms to Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company, a China-based firm whose clients allegedly included China’s Ministry of State Security and the People’s Liberation Army. According to U.S. court documents, the hackers have operated since at least 2018, exploiting…
