Tata Communications has announced a strategic partnership with state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to introduce eSIM services across India. Leveraging Tata Communications’ Move platform, the initiative allows users to activate mobile connectivity digitally, removing the need for a physical SIM card. This feature also supports dual-SIM devices, enabling users to run an eSIM alongside a traditional SIM, which can be especially convenient for travelers who want to connect to local networks internationally.
The rollout is powered by Tata Communications’ GSMA-accredited Subscription Management platform, Move, and is implemented through Tata Communications Collaboration Services Private Ltd. (TCCSPL). This digital infrastructure provides BSNL with the capability to manage eSIM provisioning across its nationwide user base efficiently, ensuring a smooth experience for subscribers adopting the new technology.
BSNL’s eSIM service represents a major step forward for the state-run telecom operator, modernizing its offerings to meet growing demand for digital and remote connectivity. With the eSIM, users can activate 2G, 3G, and 4G services simply by scanning a QR code, eliminating the need to physically swap SIM cards or visit retail outlets. This makes it easier than ever for customers to stay connected, both domestically and internationally.
The collaboration also highlights the broader shift in India’s telecom landscape toward more flexible, user-friendly solutions. By combining BSNL’s extensive network with Tata Communications’ advanced digital infrastructure, the partnership sets a benchmark for future innovations in mobile connectivity, signaling a new era of convenience and efficiency for Indian mobile users.
