Oppo Teases Official Renders of Find X8 Ultra and Find X8s Series Launch

Oppo is set to unveil its latest smartphones, the Find X8 Ultra, Find X8s, and Find X8s+, in China. Ahead of the official launch, the company has teased the design of these upcoming devices through official renders. These images reveal some key design elements, including a centrally positioned hole-punch display and circular-shaped camera modules. Oppo has also confirmed that the new models will come in three attractive color options and will be available with up to 16GB of RAM and a maximum of 1TB of internal storage.

The official renders, shared via Oppo’s Weibo account, provide a closer look at the design of the Oppo Find X8 Ultra and its sibling models. The teasers show all three handsets sporting a sleek, modern look with narrow bezels and a hole-punch camera cutout at the center of the screen. The rear of the devices features a distinctive circular camera module with the Hasselblad branding prominently displayed. The camera setup is complemented by a flash positioned at the left corner of the rear panel, adding to the premium feel of the devices.

In terms of design specifics, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra appears to have a flat display, similar to the previous Find X8 and Find X8 Pro models. All three smartphones are seen to forgo the alert slider, which has become a signature feature of Oppo’s flagship devices. Instead, they feature a single button along the side of the phone. The Oppo Find X8 Ultra will be available in Hoshino Black, Moonlight White, and Morning Light colors, while the Find X8s will come in Cherry Blossom Pink, Moonlight White, Island Blue, and Hoshino Black. The Find X8s+ is expected to be available in Moonlight White, Hoshino Black, and Hyacinth Purple shades.

The official launch event for the Oppo Find X8 Ultra, Find X8s, and Find X8s+ will take place on April 10 at 7:00 PM local time in China (4:30 PM IST). Along with the new smartphones, Oppo is expected to reveal additional products, including the Oppo Watch X2 Mini smartwatch, the Pad 4 Pro tablet, and the Enco Free 4 earbuds. Rumors suggest that the Oppo Find X8 Ultra will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, while the Find X8s and Find X8s+ models are anticipated to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, making them formidable contenders in the premium smartphone segment.

OpenAI Reportedly Expanding Deep Research AI Agent Access to ChatGPT’s Free Tier

OpenAI is reportedly planning to extend its Deep Research feature to the free tier of ChatGPT users. Originally launched in February, this feature acts as an autonomous research assistant, capable of conducting in-depth, multi-step research on complex topics by gathering relevant information from the web. Powered by a specialized custom o3 AI model, Deep Research has been available only to paid ChatGPT subscribers. However, there are indications that OpenAI could soon expand access to this advanced tool to all users, including those on the free tier.

Tibor Blaho, a Lead Engineer at AIPRM, recently shared a screenshot from an OpenAI webcast on X (formerly Twitter), where Isa Fullford, a member of OpenAI’s technical team, apparently confirmed that Deep Research could soon be available to free-tier users. While this news has sparked excitement within the AI community, no official timeline has been provided for when this expansion will take place. Despite the potential for wider access, OpenAI has not specified exactly when users on the free tier will be able to access this feature.

However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has acknowledged that there are challenges on the horizon that could delay such a release. Specifically, the increased server load resulting from the popularity of the new image generation feature is creating capacity issues. As a result, even if Deep Research does come to the free tier, it may not be available immediately and could be subject to certain limitations. Users may have to wait until OpenAI has addressed its server capacity issues before the feature becomes available.

When Deep Research reaches the free tier, it is likely to come with significant restrictions, particularly in terms of usage. The tool, being agentic in nature, requires substantial GPU resources to function effectively, so OpenAI may impose high rate limits to manage its demands. As seen with the ChatGPT Plus tier, which also has rate-limited access to the feature, it’s expected that free-tier users will face constraints, such as a limited number of uses per month. More extensive access to Deep Research may remain a privilege for ChatGPT Pro subscribers, who enjoy more robust usage privileges with the service.

Apple Unveils New Firmware for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 with Bug Fixes; AirPods Max Gains Lossless Audio Support

Apple has rolled out a new firmware update for several of its audio products, including the AirPods Pro (2nd generation), AirPods 4, and AirPods Max, with users encouraged to download the update for access to improved features and bug fixes. The update focuses on addressing performance issues and ensuring smoother functionality for these popular earbuds and headphones. For AirPods Max users, in particular, this update introduces exciting new audio enhancements that promise to elevate the listening experience.

For the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, the latest firmware version 7E93 replaces the previous versions 7B21 and 7B20, respectively. While the update doesn’t bring major new features, it includes several bug fixes aimed at improving the overall stability and performance of these devices. Users can expect a more reliable experience with fewer glitches and enhanced connectivity when using their AirPods.

On the other hand, the update for the AirPods Max with USB Type-C is much more substantial. Moving from firmware version 7A291 to 7E99, this update enables two standout features. First, users can now enjoy lossless audio quality when paired with an iPhone running iOS 18.4. Specifically, AirPods Max users with a USB Type-C connection can listen to 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio, a feature that supports high-quality streaming from services like Apple Music and Tidal. This enhancement allows for a premium sound experience for music lovers, movie enthusiasts, and anyone seeking better audio quality across various media.

In addition to lossless audio, the firmware update introduces support for low-latency audio playback, a feature that can significantly reduce lag. When connected via USB Type-C, the AirPods Max now offer performance comparable to the built-in speakers on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. This is particularly beneficial for gamers, livestreamers, and music creators who rely on precise audio synchronization for a seamless experience. With these improvements, the AirPods Max becomes an even more versatile tool for both casual listeners and professionals alike.
