Nothing Phone 2a Secures TUV Certification, Leaks Reveal Charging Specifications Prior to Official Launch.

Unified Charging Excellence: Nothing Phone 2a Leaks Suggest Parallel Charging Speed and Technology with Pricier Phone 2 Model.

Anticipation is building for the upcoming release of the Nothing Phone 2a, touted as the midrange counterpart to the Phone 2, and slated for a debut at the end of February. Notably, this marks the company’s first foray into incorporating a MediaTek chipset into their smartphone lineup. Previous leaks have provided insights into the phone’s design, specifications, and available color options, fueling excitement among smartphone enthusiasts.

In a recent development, the Nothing Phone 2a has made an appearance on the TUV certification website under the model number A142. The listing, discovered by 91Mobiles, sheds light on the charging specifications of the device. According to the report, the Nothing Phone 2a is set to support 45W charging, mirroring the capabilities of its pricier counterpart, the Nothing Phone 2. However, details on whether wireless charging will be a feature of the Phone 2a remain undisclosed and unverified.

An interesting revelation from the TUV certification is that the Nothing Phone 2a is expected to embrace the USB Power Delivery (PD) standard, a departure from proprietary charging protocols. This implies compatibility with any USB PD charger, offering users a versatile charging experience. As the unveiling date approaches, the Nothing Phone 2a continues to pique curiosity, and enthusiasts await further details to complete the picture of this promising midrange smartphone.

Based on previous leaks, we can expect the Nothing Phone 2a to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7200 processor, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It is also said to sport a 6.7-inch full-HD AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and run on Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5 out-of-the-box.

For photos and videos, the Nothing Phone 2a is rumoured to feature a dual rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel primary camera, along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The smartphone is also said to be equipped with a 16-megapixel camera.

Nothing is expected to unveil the new affordable smartphone at the company’s next event that is scheduled to take place at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024). The company is yet to announce plans to launch a new handset, but recent leaks suggest that we can expect to see the handset debut at Nothing’s event that is scheduled to take place on February 27.
