Enhanced Imaging: Rumors Suggest Vivo X Fold 3 Series to Incorporate OmniVision OV50H Main Camera

Optical Advancements: Leaks Indicate Inclusion of Periscope Telephoto Lens in Vivo X Fold 3 Series

Following the successful debut of the Vivo X Fold 2 featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in China last April, Vivo is reportedly gearing up for the release of the Vivo X Fold 3 series. This upcoming lineup, speculated to include both the standard Vivo X Fold 3 and the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, is anticipated to bring significant enhancements to its camera system.

Notably, leaked information from tipster Digital Chat Station, shared on Weibo and reported by GizmoChina, suggests that the Vivo X Fold 3 series will sport the OmniVision OV50H main camera, representing a noteworthy upgrade compared to its predecessor.

The leaked details further indicate the inclusion of a periscope telephoto lens, hinting at advanced optical capabilities for the upcoming foldable smartphones. The integration of the OmniVision OV50H main camera aligns with Vivo’s commitment to delivering improved imaging experiences, building on the success of its previous foldable offerings.

Additionally, previous leaks from the same source have hinted at the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro being powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, boasting an LTPO inner foldable screen with a 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

 

 

Other potential features include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on both screens, along with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. As Vivo continues to push boundaries in the foldable smartphone segment, the Vivo X Fold 3 series is poised to offer a blend of cutting-edge technology and innovative camera capabilities.

As per past leaks, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will have a triple rear camera unit, led by a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation). The camera unit is anticipated to comprise a 100mm periscope telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom and an ultra-wide snapper.The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is anticipated to launch alongside the Vivo Pad 3 in the first quarter of this year.

Vivo X Fold 2 was launched in China last year with a starting price tag of CNY 8,999 (roughly Rs. 1,07,500). The China-exclusive handset boasts an 8.03-inch E6 AMOLED LTPO inner display and a 6.53-inch AMOLED outer screen. It has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood and features triple rear cameras led by a 50-megapixel Sony IMCX866 primary shooter. It is backed by a 4,800mAh battery unit with 120W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse charging support.
