GPT-5 Unveiled: Key Changes Compared to GPT-4
Sam Altman Reveals First Look at GPT-5 in a Screenshot Shared on X
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has given the tech community its first glimpse of GPT-5, the company’s much-anticipated next-generation AI model. On Sunday, Altman shared a screenshot showcasing a response generated by GPT-5, underlining the model’s improvements in fluency and text generation quality. While there have been multiple reports suggesting that GPT-5 could be released in August, OpenAI has yet to confirm an official launch date. Altman has previously noted that GPT-5 will be the first model to unify the GPT-series and o-series, marking an important step in OpenAI’s roadmap.
A First Look at GPT-5 in Action
In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Altman praised AMC’s Pantheon series. When asked by a user if GPT-5 had recommended the show, Altman responded by sharing a screenshot of the new model generating the recommendation. This small but revealing interaction offered a glimpse into GPT-5’s ability to provide context-aware and engaging answers.

In the shared example, Altman asked, “What is the most thought-provoking show about AI?” GPT-5 replied with a curated list of series, along with where they could be streamed and short, spoiler-free descriptions. This highlighted not only the model’s improved reasoning but also its attention to user experience by avoiding unnecessary details while still being informative.
At Gadgets 360, the same prompt was tested using GPT-4o, which is currently available to free-tier users. The results showed a noticeable difference—while GPT-4o delivered an adequate response, GPT-5 appeared more conversational, nuanced, and user-friendly. Although benchmark results are not yet available, these early signs suggest that GPT-5 could represent a significant leap in natural interaction and practical usability for end users.
