Zoom Enhances Agentic Tools with AI-Powered Companion, Zoom Tasks, and Additional Features

Zoom Unveils New AI-Driven Tools to Enhance Enterprise Productivity

Zoom has unveiled a suite of new features aimed at expanding its agentic capabilities for enterprise users. Last week, the company introduced several AI-powered tools designed to streamline workflows within the Zoom Workplace ecosystem. Among these are the Custom AI Companion, Zoom Tasks, and a host of updates to existing products like Zoom Phone, Whiteboard, and Zoom CX. These innovations come on the heels of Zoom’s announcement in March, where it laid out its agentic strategy and detailed the upcoming features that would enhance productivity for users.

A major addition to Zoom’s portfolio is Zoom Tasks, which integrates directly with the Zoom AI Companion. This feature allows users to detect, manage, and complete tasks across the Zoom Workplace platform. Zoom Tasks can automatically generate to-do lists from Zoom Team Chat, Mail, or Docs, and turn them into actionable items that users can either execute themselves or delegate to the AI Companion. The tasks come with insights and suggested next steps, streamlining team collaboration and productivity. A centralised task management tab allows teams to keep track of their progress, and Zoom Tasks is available to those with Zoom Workplace plans.

In addition to Zoom Tasks, Zoom has introduced Custom AI Companion for enterprise-level customers. This feature is powered by Zoom AI Studio and offers businesses a customizable version of the AI Companion. The AI Companion can connect to a variety of third-party AI agents, extending its functionality and enabling users to perform a wide range of tasks. Zoom has ensured compatibility with models like Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Google’s Agent to Agent Protocol, facilitating seamless integration with external tools. This expanded AI functionality offers a more tailored and efficient experience for businesses seeking automation and enhanced capabilities.

These new AI tools are part of Zoom’s broader vision to reshape the workplace with agentic technologies. The company also rolled out updates for other Zoom services, including improvements to Zoom Meetings, Team Chat, and the Zoom Revenue Accelerator. While some of these features are available to all users, the more advanced tools like the Custom AI Companion are limited to paid users. Zoom’s latest updates aim to further solidify its position as a leading platform for business communications and productivity.

Adobe Unveils Next-Gen Agentic AI Features for Acrobat, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro

Adobe Explores the Future of Creativity with AI-Powered Agents

Adobe is stepping into the next frontier of creative technology by previewing a new generation of AI agents designed to simplify manual tasks and enhance creative workflows. In a recent announcement, the company offered a glimpse into AI-driven features currently in development across key platforms such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, Adobe Express, and Creative Cloud. These tools are being developed with a clear objective: to free up users from repetitive tasks and enable them to focus on high-value, creative thinking. While these capabilities remain under development and are not yet available to the public, the preview highlights Adobe’s broader vision for integrating “agentic” AI into its software ecosystem.

The concept of AI agents, as Adobe describes it, refers to intelligent systems that can independently carry out tasks by analyzing problems, generating solutions, and interacting with external tools. This goes beyond traditional automation. Adobe’s implementation of these agents focuses on adaptability and specialization. Each AI agent can be given a particular role — whether it’s acting as a research assistant in Acrobat or a creative collaborator in Express. For instance, in Acrobat, users will soon be able to upload multiple documents, prompt the AI with questions, and receive context-aware insights, summaries, and suggestions for further exploration.

One of the most compelling applications is coming to Adobe Express, where the AI agent is being positioned as a “creative partner.” Instead of merely executing commands, the AI will assist users throughout the entire design process. Whether it’s generating a layout, tweaking visuals based on feedback, or handing control back to the user, the agent is intended to collaborate with creators in a fluid, natural way. For businesses, this opens up scalable opportunities: enterprises can feed brand guidelines into the system to generate consistent on-brand materials, while smaller teams or startups can rely on the AI to accelerate design workflows without needing large in-house creative teams.

Photoshop will be among the first Adobe products to get a more tangible AI upgrade. Later this month, the company plans to introduce its first “creative agent” for the platform, paired with a redesigned Actions panel. This AI assistant will be able to suggest edits tailored to the context of an image, offer real-time recommendations, and allow users to apply or reject them instantly. With support for over 1,000 natural language commands, the tool promises to drastically streamline photo editing. Through these initiatives, Adobe is signaling a shift from passive AI features to more proactive, autonomous agents that work alongside users as intelligent co-creators.

Beijing Supports AI Startup Manus in Bid for Global AI Dominance

Chinese AI startup Manus has made significant strides, with its China-facing AI assistant now officially registered and receiving notable state media attention, as Beijing continues to promote domestic AI companies. The startup, which recently garnered global attention for releasing what it claims is the world’s first general AI agent capable of making decisions and executing tasks autonomously, is being positioned as a key player in China’s ambition to rival global AI leaders.

Manus’ breakthrough moment came when the company went viral on social media platform X, following the introduction of its AI agent, which offers a more advanced and independent functionality compared to current AI chatbots like ChatGPT and the AI model DeepSeek. Beijing’s state-run CCTV aired a segment showcasing Manus, highlighting the AI agent’s unique capabilities, and comparing it to DeepSeek’s AI chatbot, which also gained recognition for offering competitive performance at a fraction of the cost of its U.S. counterparts.

The Chinese government has supported Manus’ development, with Beijing’s municipal government approving the registration of Manus’ earlier AI assistant, Monica, which is a necessary step for launching generative AI apps in China. This regulatory approval aligns with Beijing’s strategy of bolstering the domestic AI sector while maintaining tight control over content deemed sensitive by the authorities.

In addition to government backing, Manus secured a strategic partnership with the team behind Alibaba’s Qwen AI models, further strengthening its position in the competitive AI landscape. Manus’ AI agent is currently available through an invite-only system, with a waitlist reportedly exceeding 2 million users.
