CES 2026: Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon X2 Plus for Copilot+ PCs

The Snapdragon X2 Plus SoC follows the Snapdragon X2 Elite, launching just four months after its debut.

Qualcomm on Monday introduced the Snapdragon X2 Plus chipset for Copilot+ PCs, just ahead of the opening of CES 2026. The new processor expands the company’s Snapdragon X lineup aimed at AI-focused personal computers and brings improvements in both performance and power efficiency. It joins the Snapdragon X2 Elite SoC, which was announced in September 2025.

The company said the Snapdragon X2 Plus has been developed specifically for Windows laptops and 2-in-1 devices that meet Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC requirements. These systems must deliver a defined level of neural processing performance to support on-device AI features and local inference without relying heavily on cloud resources.

During a press briefing, Qualcomm revealed that the chipset is powered by its third-generation Oryon CPU architecture. It is paired with a neural processing unit capable of delivering up to 80 trillion operations per second, enabling advanced AI workloads to be handled directly on the device. Qualcomm added that the first consumer devices featuring the new platform are expected to launch in early 2026.

The Oryon architecture has been central to Qualcomm’s PC strategy since the debut of the Snapdragon X Elite in 2024. In the Snapdragon X2 Plus, the third-generation design uses custom Arm-compatible cores optimized for sustained, energy-efficient performance rather than short, high-power bursts. While detailed specifications such as core configuration, clock speeds, and cache sizes were not disclosed, Qualcomm emphasized that the focus remains on long battery life and consistent performance for everyday computing and AI tasks.
