Dog Breeder Found Dead; Up to 10 Doberman Puppies Missing as Homicide Investigation Unfolds

Authorities are investigating the death of Paul Peavey, a 57-year-old dog breeder from Clear Creek County, Colorado, as a homicide. Peavey’s body was discovered by a privately organized search party on August 24, three days after he was reported missing. The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, is conducting the investigation.

Peavey, known for breeding Doberman puppies, was last heard from on the night of August 19. His death was confirmed by the coroner later on August 24, and an autopsy is underway to determine the cause and manner of his death.

Following Peavey’s death, as many as 10 Doberman puppies have been reported missing from his property. Authorities are seeking public assistance in locating these puppies. The sheriff’s office noted that the puppies are microchipped, which could help in identifying them if they have been sold or otherwise distributed. They are asking anyone who may have purchased a Doberman puppy from Peavey’s business, Elite European Dobermans, since June 2024 to contact them.

The sheriff’s office is particularly interested in any puppies bought in the central Colorado area since August 20, the day after Peavey was last heard from. They urge anyone with information or who has received a puppy from Peavey to reach out to them.

The investigation into Peavey’s death is ongoing, and police hope that locating the missing puppies may provide crucial leads in solving the case. Authorities have expressed appreciation for the tips they have received and are committed to releasing further information that does not compromise the investigation.

Flights Grounded and Police Forced to Communicate by Text Amid IT Outage in Netherlands

A widespread IT outage in the Netherlands, traced back to a network issue at the Dutch Ministry of Defence, has caused significant disruptions across the country. The network failure led to grounded flights, communication breakdowns, and major IT failures.

At Eindhoven Airport, the Netherlands’ second-largest airport, flights were grounded from early morning, with at least 14 cancellations reported. Passengers faced severe delays as flights from budget airlines Ryanair and Transavia were cancelled. Some flights were redirected to Germany’s Weeze Airport, Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, and Brussels Airport in Belgium. Eindhoven Airport also functions as a military airport, which may have exacerbated the issue. Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport has not reported any similar problems.

The IT outage has also impacted emergency services. The coastguard reported being unreachable by phone or radio, and police officers were forced to rely on mobile phones and text messaging for communication, as their usual systems were down.

Telecom company KPN experienced a major outage affecting its mobile services, though it is unclear if this issue is related to the problems at the defence ministry. The Dutch National Cybersecurity Centre has not yet determined if the outage was caused by a cyber attack.

The Dutch Ministry of Defence confirmed the network outage and is currently investigating the cause and extent of the problems. It is unclear how long the disruption will last, and no additional details have been provided.

Man, 20, Charged with Attempted Murder in Notting Hill Carnival Stabbing

A 20-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing at Notting Hill Carnival, which left a 32-year-old mother in critical condition. Shakiel Thibou, from Hammersmith and Fulham, west London, faces charges of attempted murder, violent disorder, and possession of an offensive weapon. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police.

The victim, who was attending the carnival with her three-year-old daughter, suffered life-changing injuries and remains in a life-threatening condition, currently in a coma. The court was informed that she was an innocent bystander during the attack.

In connection with the stabbing, two other men have also been charged. Sheldon Thibou, 24, has been charged with violent disorder, possession of a stun gun, and assaulting an emergency worker. Shaeim Thibou, 22, faces charges of violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker. The three men, all brothers from Hammersmith and Fulham, have been remanded to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The stabbing was part of a broader pattern of violence at the carnival. On the closing day of the event, police reported that five people were stabbed and 230 individuals were arrested. Earlier in the carnival, three people were also stabbed on Sunday.

Notting Hill Carnival, one of the longest-running street festivals in the UK, began in the 1960s and features a vibrant parade with performers, music, and dancing. This year, around 7,000 officers were deployed for the bank holiday weekend event, reflecting a significant policing presence aimed at ensuring safety.
