MagicSchool believes AI in the classroom is inevitable and is focused on aiding teachers and students in its proper usage

MagicSchool AI, a startup focused on developing generative AI tools for educational settings, has successfully closed a Series A funding round amounting to $15 million. The funding was led by Bain Capital Ventures and includes participation from Adobe Ventures, known for its robust AI initiatives, and Common Sense Media, which specializes in age-based tech reviews and has been involved in AI guidelines partnerships with OpenAI.

Founded in Denver, MagicSchool AI initially targeted educators with tools designed to assist in lesson planning, test creation, and other educational tasks. The startup has already onboarded approximately 4,000 teachers and schools onto its platform. Recently, MagicSchool AI has expanded its focus to include tools for students, integrated through educational institutions. The new funding will support further development along both educator and student tracks, expansion of its customer base, recruitment efforts, and other strategic initiatives.

Notable individual investors in this round include Amjad Masad, founder of Replit, Tyler Bosmeny and Rafael Garcia, co-founders of Clever, and Amir Nathoo, co-founder of OutSchool. These investors had also participated in the company’s earlier seed rounds, where MagicSchool AI raised around $2.4 million.

The investment underscores the growing interest and confidence in using generative AI technologies to enhance educational experiences, despite ongoing debates about their potential impacts on learning environments.
