Morgan Stanley to add crypto trading to E*Trade via Zerohash partnership

Morgan Stanley will enable cryptocurrency trading on its E*Trade platform starting in the first half of 2026, the bank confirmed Tuesday. The service will launch through a partnership with Zerohash, a digital asset infrastructure provider.

At rollout, E*Trade clients will be able to trade bitcoin, ether, and solana, with the potential for more tokens to be added later. A Morgan Stanley spokesperson said the move reflects growing client demand for access to digital assets alongside traditional investments.

The expansion comes as the global crypto market swells to about $3.9 trillion, led by bitcoin ($2.25 trillion) and ether ($506 billion), according to CoinMarketCap. Once dismissed as speculative, crypto has become a mainstream asset class, attracting Wall Street banks, brokers, and retail platforms.

Morgan Stanley’s push follows rivals:

  • Robinhood offers trading in a wide range of tokens.

  • Charles Schwab provides ETFs tied to bitcoin and ether.

The supportive regulatory stance under President Donald Trump has also accelerated Wall Street’s embrace of crypto products.

Meanwhile, Zerohash announced it reached unicorn status after raising $104 million in a funding round led by Interactive Brokers, with Morgan Stanley, SoFi, and others also investing.

By integrating crypto into E*Trade, Morgan Stanley is positioning itself to compete directly with retail trading platforms while tapping into one of finance’s fastest-growing markets.

Coinbase to Launch CFTC-Compliant Perpetual Futures Trading in U.S.

Coinbase announced plans on Thursday to introduce perpetual futures trading in the United States, with the product designed to comply with regulatory standards set by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The move represents a significant expansion of the crypto exchange’s derivatives offerings as the broader market anticipates lighter regulation and displays renewed investor risk appetite.

“We recently launched first-of-its-kind 24/7 futures trading, and I’m excited to share that we’ll soon be launching CFTC-compliant perpetual futures trading in the U.S. as well,” said Max Branzburg, Coinbase’s vice-president of product, speaking at the State of Crypto Summit in New York.

Perpetual futures are a form of crypto derivatives that allow traders to speculate on token prices without an expiry date. These contracts provide continuous trading access, often with high leverage, and have grown in popularity as fast-moving markets attract both institutional and retail traders seeking to hedge risk, amplify returns, or speculate on price movements without holding the underlying digital assets.

The expansion comes amid heightened competition among crypto exchanges racing to offer complex products that were once limited to sophisticated market participants. Coinbase’s decision to ensure compliance with CFTC regulations may also help position the exchange favorably with U.S. regulators, as the crypto industry continues to face scrutiny from multiple government agencies.

Binance Reopens Crypto Trading to Syrians Following U.S. Sanctions Lift

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced it will reopen trading services to users in Syria after the United States lifted sanctions on the country last month.

Syrian users will now have full access to Binance’s platform, which supports over 300 cryptocurrency tokens and stablecoins. Notably, the Syrian pound will be accepted for buying and selling cryptocurrencies on the exchange.

The sanctions removal came as a surprise move by the Trump administration, reportedly influenced by Saudi Arabia, which advocated for easing restrictions on Syria. The new government in Syria, led by an Islamist coalition after ousting former leader Bashar al-Assad, is focusing on rebuilding the country’s public services and improving infrastructure, including internet access, after years of civil war and prolonged sanctions.

Binance’s reopening of services is expected to facilitate financial inclusion and offer Syrians new economic opportunities amid the country’s recovery efforts.
