Meta Launches AI-Powered Seller App for Facebook Marketplace Merchants

Meta has introduced a new application called Seller, giving Facebook Marketplace merchants a dedicated platform to manage listings, communicate with buyers, and streamline online sales through a suite of AI-powered tools.

The launch is part of Meta’s broader effort to strengthen Facebook Marketplace, which has evolved into one of the world’s largest consumer-to-consumer commerce platforms. According to the company, Marketplace now hosts approximately 430 million item listings every month, making it a key component of Meta’s expanding e-commerce ecosystem.

Designed specifically for sellers, the new Seller app automatically synchronizes with existing Marketplace accounts, allowing users to access current product listings, customer messages, and sales history without requiring additional setup.

A major focus of the application is artificial intelligence. Meta has integrated AI-powered listing tools that help merchants create product descriptions more efficiently, while additional features include a unified inbox for buyer communication, inventory management capabilities, and business performance analytics that help sellers monitor and improve sales activity.

The Seller app is initially available through Apple’s App Store for U.S. users aged 18 and older, while Meta is also testing a web-based version for participating users.

Alongside the new application, Meta announced Facebook Verified, a free verification badge intended to confirm that an account belongs to a real individual. The verification process uses selfie-based identity confirmation as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to improve authenticity, reduce fraud, and increase trust within Marketplace transactions.

The launch continues Meta’s strategy of building specialized applications around its core social platforms. Earlier this year, the company introduced Forum, an app designed for Facebook Groups users, further expanding its ecosystem beyond the traditional Facebook experience.

The new Seller platform also reflects the growing role of AI in digital commerce. Rather than simply connecting buyers and sellers, marketplaces are increasingly providing merchants with intelligent tools that automate listing creation, improve customer engagement, and generate insights that help optimize business performance.

As competition intensifies with platforms such as eBay and other online marketplaces, Meta is positioning Facebook Marketplace as a more comprehensive commerce platform capable of supporting both casual sellers and small businesses with increasingly sophisticated selling tools.

Meta to Test Integration of eBay Listings on Facebook Marketplace

Meta announced on Wednesday that it would begin testing a new feature that integrates eBay listings into Facebook Marketplace, initially in Germany, France, and the United States. This initiative allows buyers to browse eBay listings directly on Facebook Marketplace, with transactions being completed through eBay.

The move comes as Meta continues to appeal a significant $840 million fine imposed by the European Commission in November over alleged anti-competitive practices related to Facebook Marketplace. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Meta confirmed it is actively working to address the concerns raised by the Commission.

Meta emphasized that this new collaboration would benefit both eBay sellers, who would gain exposure to Facebook’s large user base, and Marketplace users, who would have access to a wider range of products from the eBay community.
