May PS Plus Game Lineup Expands with Sand Land, Soul Hackers 2, STALKER Trilogy, and More

Sony has announced the latest batch of games coming to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in May, giving subscribers even more reasons to dive into new adventures. Leading the charge is Sand Land, an action-RPG based on the popular manga series by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Alongside it, PS Plus Extra and Deluxe members will also gain access to a diverse lineup including the role-playing game Soul Hackers 2, the survival horror experience Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted – Full Time Edition, the first-person shooter Battlefield 5, and the intense STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy.

All these titles will be available starting May 20, according to Sony’s official PlayStation Blog post. Additionally, PlayStation Plus Premium members will see a classic game added to the service, expanding the offerings for fans who enjoy a mix of old and new. This continuous refresh of the Game Catalog aims to keep the PlayStation Plus experience exciting and valuable across all subscription tiers.

Sand Land stands out this month not only because of its connection to a beloved manga but also for its immersive gameplay. Players explore a vast desert landscape in a third-person perspective, piloting unique vehicles while searching for the Legendary Spring. You take on the role of Beelzebub, the manga’s protagonist, accompanied by his companions Thief and Sheriff Rao. The game offers a blend of exploration, combat against monsters and bandits, and skill upgrades that enhance both your abilities and your arsenal, making every encounter dynamic and rewarding.

The new additions bring a strong mix of genres, from horror to shooter to RPG, ensuring there’s something for every type of gamer. With titles like Soul Hackers 2 and STALKER Trilogy complementing the more action-focused Sand Land and Battlefield 5, May’s Game Catalog refresh highlights Sony’s commitment to offering a rich and varied gaming library for its subscribers on both PS4 and PS5 platforms.

Sony Extends PlayStation Plus Membership After Global Outage

Sony has announced a five-day extension for all PlayStation Plus subscribers following a global outage that disrupted the PlayStation Network (PSN) for nearly 18 hours on Friday and Saturday. The company confirmed that network services had been fully restored by Saturday evening and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to users.

The outage, which began late on Friday, prevented users from signing in, playing online games, or accessing the PlayStation Store. Sony did not specify the cause of the disruption in its update. At its peak, the outage affected nearly 8,000 users in the U.S. and over 7,300 in the UK, according to Downdetector.com, which tracks service interruptions.

This incident is the latest in a series of PSN outages, though Sony has faced more severe disruptions in the past. A cyberattack in 2014 forced the network offline for several days, and a significant data breach in 2011 compromised the personal information of millions of users, resulting in a month-long service shutdown and a regulatory investigation.

Despite the inconvenience, the extended PlayStation Plus membership is seen as a way to compensate users for the lost time. One user on X (formerly Twitter) humorously remarked that Sony had “saved millions of gamers’ Sunday” after the outage impacted their Saturday.

Sony Unveils PS Plus February Lineup, Plans to Phase Out PS4 Titles by 2026

Sony has unveiled the PlayStation Plus monthly games lineup for February, featuring the cooperative shooter Payday 3, the quirky action-adventure FPS High on Life, and the classic platformer Pac-Man World Re-Pac. These games will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers starting February 4 across all tiers—Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/Premium. In a significant shift, Sony also announced that from 2026 onward, it will phase out PS4 titles as a core benefit of PS Plus, focusing exclusively on PS5-native games.

The February PS Plus lineup was revealed on the official PlayStation Blog, with Sony confirming that the titles will remain available until March 3. Subscribers can claim and add these games to their libraries before that date, ensuring continued access as long as they maintain an active subscription. Meanwhile, players still have until February 3 to grab January’s PS Plus offerings, which include Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.

Leading the February lineup is Payday 3, the latest installment in the popular heist-focused franchise. Bringing back the original gang—Dallas, Chains, Wolf, and Hoxton—the game introduces more intricate heist mechanics and takes players to New York for high-stakes robberies. It features eight main heists along with three remastered missions from Payday 2, all of which can be tackled solo or cooperatively with up to four players. Notably, Payday 3 will be available only on PS5, reinforcing Sony’s ongoing shift toward current-gen exclusivity.

Sony’s decision to phase out PS4 games from PS Plus in 2026 marks a turning point for the subscription service. As the PS5 continues to gain traction, the company appears to be fully committing to its latest console generation, encouraging players to upgrade. This shift is likely to bring a stronger focus on PS5-optimized titles with enhanced visuals, performance, and gameplay innovations. While PS4 games will still be available in various capacities, the move signals the end of an era as Sony looks toward the future of PlayStation gaming.
