Poland to Report Elon Musk’s Chatbot Grok to EU over Offensive Political Comments

Poland announced plans to report Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, developed by xAI, to the European Commission following offensive remarks made about Polish politicians, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The move reflects growing concerns about political bias, hate speech, and the accuracy of AI chatbots since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in 2022.

Grok had recently removed posts flagged as “inappropriate,” including antisemitic content and praise for Adolf Hitler, following complaints from X users and the Anti-Defamation League. Earlier, a Turkish court blocked some Grok content after it insulted President Tayyip Erdogan, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and religious values.

Poland’s digitization minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, told RMF FM radio that the government will ask the European Commission to investigate Grok’s offensive comments. He expressed concern about the rising level of hate speech driven by algorithms and stressed that ignoring this issue would be a grave mistake.

Gawkowski emphasized, “Freedom of speech belongs to humans, not to artificial intelligence,” and said the Ministry of Digitisation will take action under existing regulations, possibly seeking fines against X, Musk’s company that owns the platform.

xAI, the chatbot’s developer, did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

US Startup Lyten Acquires Europe’s Largest Battery Storage Factory in Poland

U.S.-based startup Lyten is set to take full ownership of Northvolt Dwa ESS, the largest energy storage systems (ESS) factory in Europe, marking a major expansion of its operations and product offerings. The announcement was made Tuesday as Lyten confirmed plans to restart operations at the Gdansk-based facility immediately.

The acquisition follows the bankruptcy of Swedish battery maker Northvolt’s energy storage division, which filed for insolvency in March. The failure, one of Sweden’s biggest corporate collapses, dashed hopes of developing a strong European competitor to dominant Chinese battery manufacturers. Northvolt had originally shut down the Polish plant in November 2023.

“We plan to immediately restart operations in Poland and deliver on existing and new customer orders,” said Dan Cook, Lyten’s CEO and co-founder.

The 25,000-square-meter facility, which first opened in 2023, houses advanced equipment for manufacturing battery energy storage systems (BESS). It currently supports 6 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of manufacturing capacity, with the potential to scale up to 10 GWh, according to Lyten’s statement. The company added that it already holds contracted orders extending into 2026.

The move positions Lyten as a key player in the European clean energy storage market, where demand for grid-scale battery storage is rapidly growing. The acquisition also offers Lyten a strong foothold in the EU’s strategic push for energy independence and decarbonization.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but completion is expected in the third quarter of 2025.

CD Projekt Launches Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2

Poland’s leading game developer CD Projekt announced the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo’s new Switch 2 console, marking the first time the game is available to Nintendo players. The launch comes amid a growing industry trend of relying on back catalogue sales as new game releases face increasing delays.

Since the Phantom Liberty expansion launched in September 2023, CD Projekt has focused more on leveraging its existing game portfolio to drive revenue. Analysts expect the Nintendo Switch 2 launch to significantly boost the company’s financial results in the second quarter and beyond.

Erste Group’s analyst Krzysztof Tkocz highlighted that this release “will have a significant impact on the company’s results in second quarter and subsequent quarters.” Similarly, Trigon DM analyst Grzegorz Balcerski noted the game could become “one of the most popular third-party titles” for the new console’s debut.

Gaming enthusiasts showed strong interest as Nintendo’s Switch 2 launched on Thursday, eager for the next-generation console’s more powerful capabilities. CD Projekt priced Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition at $69.99 for the Switch 2.
