Samsung Kicks Off Global Launch of Good Lock App for Galaxy Devices

Samsung has begun the global rollout of its Good Lock app, a popular customization suite for Galaxy devices. Initially available only in around 40 countries, the app is now accessible to users in Romania, marking the beginning of a wider availability. This move comes after months of anticipation and multiple leaks, with Samsung officially confirming the global expansion in January. As part of the rollout, users in Romania can now download the app on their Galaxy devices to take advantage of its diverse customization and personalization options.

According to a report from SamMobile, the Good Lock app is now available for download in Romania, where it had not been offered previously. While Samsung had previously announced that the app would be accessible via both the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store, the current rollout seems to be limited to the Galaxy Store in Romania. This suggests that the company is still fine-tuning the app’s global availability before it becomes fully accessible through other channels.

The Good Lock app is designed to give Galaxy smartphone users greater control over the look and feel of their devices. It offers 23 different modules that allow users to customize everything from lock screens and always-on displays to navigation bar settings and swipe gestures. One of the standout features is the ability to create dynamic backgrounds that shift as the phone moves, offering a more personalized experience. The app is compatible with both Galaxy A and Galaxy S series phones, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of Samsung users.

This global rollout of the Good Lock app aligns with Samsung’s broader plans to expand the availability of its One UI 7 update, which is also reaching more devices and regions. Although the app is compatible with Android 15-based OS, its full global availability is still ongoing, and future updates are expected to extend the app’s reach to additional markets. With this expansion, Samsung continues to enhance the customization experience for Galaxy users worldwide, giving them even more ways to tailor their smartphones to suit their personal preferences.

Apple Leads Smartphone Sales in First Quarter, New Data Reveals

Apple secured the top position in global smartphone sales for the first quarter, powered by the successful launch of the iPhone 16e and growing demand in markets like Japan and India, according to data released by Counterpoint Research on Monday. The company captured 19 percent of the smartphone market, maintaining its lead even as sales in key regions such as the United States, Europe, and China remained flat or declined.

Trailing closely behind, Samsung held an 18 percent share of the global market. Meanwhile, the International Data Corporation (IDC) reported that worldwide smartphone shipments edged up by 1.5 percent in the first quarter. Apple, anticipating potential tariff impacts from US President Donald Trump’s trade policies, had accelerated shipments to the US by organizing chartered cargo flights to ferry up to 1.5 million iPhones from India.

The turbulence in global trade, fueled by Trump’s shifting tariff decisions, has rattled financial markets over the past two weeks, raising fears of a slowing economy and rising inflation. In response to looming tariffs, companies like Apple took swift action to safeguard their supply chains and product availability, a strategy that appeared to pay off during the volatile period.

However, some relief came when Trump announced exemptions for smartphones, computers, and several other electronics from the tariffs on Chinese imports. This move triggered a rally in global tech stocks on Monday. Still, experts, including IDC’s Ryan Reith, cautioned that despite this temporary reprieve, US companies remain heavily dependent on China’s supply chain, leaving them vulnerable to future policy shifts and market disruptions.

Galaxy S25 Edge European Pricing and Storage Options Surface Ahead of Launch

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Pricing and Storage Details Emerge Ahead of Launch

As anticipation builds around the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, new reports suggest that the smartphone may officially debut on May 13. While Samsung has yet to confirm the launch date, the device has already surfaced on multiple European e-commerce websites. These early listings provide insight into potential pricing and storage options, placing the S25 Edge squarely between the Galaxy S25+ and the top-tier Galaxy S25 Ultra in the lineup.

One such listing appeared on Italian retailer Zanetti Shop, revealing both the pricing and available configurations. According to the page, the Galaxy S25 Edge will start at EUR 1,361 (approximately ₹1,27,900) for the 256GB variant. Meanwhile, the 512GB model will be priced at EUR 1,487 (around ₹1,39,800). The device is reportedly set to launch in three colorways — Titanium IcyBlue, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Silver — aligning with the hues offered for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Backing up these claims, another listing from the retail site Epto echoes similar pricing. As per a report from 91Mobiles, the 256GB version of the S25 Edge is listed for EUR 1,363.90 (roughly ₹1,28,200), while the 512GB variant shows a price tag of EUR 1,490 (around ₹1,40,000). These consistent figures across platforms suggest that Samsung may have finalized its pricing strategy in key European markets.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset — a customized version of Qualcomm’s high-end processor. This slim-profile flagship is aimed at users who want top-tier performance and design without going all the way to the Ultra model. With leaks steadily building momentum, all eyes are now on Samsung to officially unveil the device and confirm these details.
