Detective Dotson Reveals Co-Op Mode for Xbox Series S/X: Dynamic Split-Screen Coming Soon

Detective Dotson to Feature Dynamic Split-Screen in Co-Op Mode for Xbox Series S/X; PC Release Scheduled for Early Next Year

Masala Games, the Ahmedabad-based developers behind the indie title Detective Dotson, have unveiled details about the cooperative play features for their upcoming mystery-adventure game. Set to launch early next year on Xbox Series S/X and PC via Steam, Detective Dotson will offer a dynamic cooperative mode distinct from its single-player experience. This mode promises to enhance gameplay by providing unique co-op levels and character abilities tailored for two-player teamwork.

Announced in March and featured in a gameplay trailer at the Future Games Show, Detective Dotson has generated considerable buzz. The Xbox announcement trailer in June confirmed that the game would include a couch co-op mode. In a recent Xbox Wire post, Masala Games CEO Shalin Shodhan provided further insights into how this mode will function on the Xbox Series S/X consoles.

The co-op mode in Detective Dotson will introduce dedicated levels designed specifically for two-player gameplay. These co-op cases will be separate from the single-player cases, allowing players to experience a different set of challenges and puzzles. One of the standout features is the dynamic split-screen functionality. Unlike traditional split-screen modes, where the screen is permanently divided, Detective Dotson will only split the screen when players move far apart, maintaining a unified view when they are close to each other.

Additionally, players will have the option to select from a roster of distinct characters, each equipped with unique abilities that are useful for solving various cases. This choice adds a layer of strategy, as players can pick characters whose skills complement each other, enhancing their cooperative experience.

The introduction of these features aligns with Masala Games’ goal of offering a rich and engaging cooperative experience. By focusing on dynamic split-screen and character diversity, the developers aim to provide a seamless and interactive gameplay experience that encourages teamwork and strategic planning.

Detective Dotson is set to be released on Xbox Series S/X and PC (via Steam) early next year. As the launch date approaches, players can look forward to more updates and previews that will further highlight the game’s cooperative features and overall gameplay experience.
