900.care Innovates with Waterless Personal Care Products, Empowering Users to Add Tap Water at Home

French startup 900.care is challenging the traditional personal care product model by offering a more sustainable alternative. Recognizing that most personal care products consist primarily of water and are packaged in plastic bottles, 900.care focuses on the active ingredients, providing consumers with a novel approach to shower gel, shampoo, and other products.

Upon ordering from 900.care, customers receive an empty, reusable plastic bottle along with a compacted powder stick containing the active ingredients. By simply adding water to the bottle and waiting a few hours, the product is ready to use. Subsequent purchases only require acquiring new sticks, significantly reducing plastic waste associated with traditional packaging.

The startup’s innovative approach has garnered significant attention and support, reflected in its recent €21 million funding round led by Lombard Odier Investment Managers, with participation from existing investors White Star Capital, Swen Blue Ocean, and Founders Future. This funding comes as 900.care’s products gain traction in its home country, with impressive revenue figures and a growing customer base.

900.care’s direct-to-consumer model, coupled with subscription-based sales exclusively through its website, has proven successful, with €10 million in revenue generated in 2023 alone. The startup boasts 90,000 clients with 235,000 active subscriptions, underscoring the demand for sustainable personal care alternatives.

In addition to shower gel and shampoo, 900.care offers a range of other eco-friendly products, including foaming hand soap, dish soap, laundry and dishwasher tablets. By estimating that it has prevented the equivalent of 3.5 million plastic bottles of waste, 900.care is not only reshaping the personal care industry but also making significant strides toward a more sustainable future.
