Google Introduces Gemini AI Feature Allowing Users to Customize Responses

Customize Responses: Gemini Web App Enables Users to Select and Regenerate Specific Parts

Google’s Gemini, an AI-powered chatbot, has unveiled a new feature empowering users with enhanced control over generated responses. This latest addition enables users to finely tune specific parts of the text in response to a prompt, allowing for alterations, adjustments in length, or even complete removal. Presently, this feature is exclusively accessible via the web app version of Gemini, with no immediate plans for integration into the app. It’s worth noting that Google recently rolled out numerous AI features tailored for Android devices, further amplifying the company’s commitment to AI innovation.

In a recent announcement, Google detailed the functionality of this new feature, stating, “We’re introducing a more precise way for you to tailor Gemini’s responses. Initially available in English within the Gemini web app, users can now select a portion of text they wish to modify, provide Gemini with instructions, and receive an output more aligned with their preferences.” The introduction of this feature aims to augment users’ creative autonomy by offering the flexibility to refine specific segments of responses rather than regenerating them entirely.

Upon generating a response to a prompt, users can effortlessly select and highlight any section of the text. Upon highlighting, a pencil icon enclosed within a circle becomes visible, accompanied by the Gemini logo. Hovering over the icon unveils the descriptor “Modify selected text,” while clicking on it reveals four distinct options: Regenerate, Shorter, Longer, and Remove. This intuitive interface empowers users to swiftly manipulate and refine the generated responses according to their preferences and requirements.

The ability to fine-tune responses on a granular level represents a significant leap forward in user interaction with AI-driven platforms like Gemini. This feature not only enhances user experience by providing greater customization but also facilitates more efficient communication and content creation. As Google continues to refine and expand the capabilities of Gemini, users can anticipate even more advanced tools and functionalities designed to streamline their interaction with AI-powered chatbots.

Google has introduced a new feature for Gemini, its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot. The new feature provides users with granular control over the generated response to a prompt and allows them to make changes to a particular portion of the text. Users can regenerate the selected portion, edit its length or get it entirely removed. The feature is currently only available for the web app version and has not been extended to the app. Notably, Google recently announced multiple new AI features for Android devices.

Announcing the new feature in a post, Google said, “We’re launching a more precise way for you to tune Gemini’s responses. Starting in English in the Gemini web app, just select the portion of text you want to change, give Gemini some instruction, and get an output that’s closer to what you are looking for.” The feature is being added to offer more control to users’ creative process by letting them make changes to a small part of the response instead of regenerating it entirely.

Once a response for a prompt has been generated, users can select and highlight any part of the text. Highlighting it now will show a pencil icon in a circle. The Gemini logo also appears next to the pencil. Hovering the arrow over the icon brings the description “Modify selected text. Clicking on this icon shows four options — Regenerate, Shorter, Longer, and Remove.
