Apple’s Final Cut Camera enables filmmakers to connect up to four cameras simultaneously

The newest iteration of Final Cut Pro brings forth a groundbreaking feature aimed at accelerating your filming process: Live Multicam. Apple’s bold innovation transforms your iPad into a versatile multicam production studio, empowering creators to seamlessly connect and preview up to four cameras simultaneously, all from a single interface. With Live Multicam, directors stationed at the command post can remotely oversee each video angle, fine-tuning essential parameters such as exposure, white balance, focus, and more, all through the Final Cut Camera app. This integration streamlines the workflow, offering unprecedented control and efficiency in video production.

The new companion app allows users to effortlessly connect multiple iPhones or iPads, likely leveraging the same protocols as the Continuity Camera feature introduced a few years ago. Final Cut Pro seamlessly transfers and syncs each Live Multicam angle, facilitating a smooth transition from production to editing.

While Final Cut Pro has been available on the iPad for some time, when paired with the brand-new M4 processor, it delivers a video editing experience that closely rivals desktop workstations. Apple claims that the speed is doubled compared to the old M1 processors, showcasing significant performance enhancements. Notably, the new iPad supports up to four times more streams of ProRes RAW than the M1, demonstrating its enhanced capabilities for handling high-resolution content.

Additionally, the introduction of external project support enables users to edit projects directly from an external drive, leveraging the fast Thunderbolt connection of the iPad Pro. This feature enhances workflow flexibility and efficiency, particularly for users working with large video files and projects.
