Figma disables its AI design feature after concerns it was too similar to Apple’s Weather app design

Figma CEO Dylan Field has announced plans to temporarily disable the “Make Design” AI feature following accusations that it was replicating designs from Apple’s Weather app. The issue came to light when Andy Allen, founder of NotBoring Software, observed that Figma’s tool consistently generated designs resembling Apple’s Weather app when used.

Allen publicly criticized Figma on X (formerly Twitter), accusing the company of heavily training its AI tool on existing apps. In response, Field has refuted these claims, stating that the tool was not intentionally trained to replicate specific designs.

As a result, Figma has decided to suspend the “Make Design” feature while they investigate the matter further and address any concerns raised about intellectual property and design originality.
