Flipkart Introduces UPI Payment Option in Collaboration With Axis Bank to Combat Third-Party Platforms

Exclusive Deal: Get Flat Rs. 25 Off on Your First Flipkart UPI Order

Flipkart has recently ventured into the world of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services through a strategic partnership with Axis Bank. This new offering from Flipkart brings convenience and ease to the fingertips of its customers, particularly Android users, allowing them to seamlessly engage in both online and offline transactions. The integration of UPI within the Flipkart app marks a significant milestone, enabling users to not only shop but also handle bill payments and fund transfers directly through the platform. By stepping into the realm of UPI, Flipkart aims to assert itself as a formidable player among existing third-party UPI apps like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay, thereby broadening its financial service portfolio.

Announced by Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Flipkart India, the launch of Flipkart’s UPI handle signals a new era of digital transactions within the e-commerce giant’s ecosystem. Through its collaboration with Axis Bank, Flipkart has initiated this service tailored specifically for Android users, streamlining the registration process under the @fkaxis handle within the Flipkart app. This move not only enhances user experience but also positions Flipkart as a holistic platform catering to various digital needs beyond just online shopping.

The versatility of Flipkart’s UPI service extends beyond mere transactions on its platform, enabling users to indulge in a spectrum of activities including bill payments, recharges, and even payments outside the Flipkart marketplace through QR code scans. To sweeten the deal, Flipkart is rolling out an array of incentives for users adopting this new payment method, ranging from supercoins, cashback, to vouchers.

For instance, users stand to gain ten supercoins on their first five scan and pay transactions, provided the transaction amount exceeds Rs. 100. Moreover, as an introductory offer, Flipkart is extending a flat Rs. 25 off on the first order made through its UPI service, further incentivizing users to embrace this seamless and rewarding mode of payment.

Interested users can activate Flipkart UPI by heading to the Scan and Pay option under My UPI in the Flipkart Android app. After selecting the bank, Flipkart will verify the details with an SMS and activate the Flipkart UPI service.

The introduction of its own UPI handle will allow Flipkart, which claims to have over 50 crore registered users on its marketplace, to reduce dependence on third-party UPI services including Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, and Amazon Pay. The entry of Flipkart UPI comes at a time when India’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has imposed a penalty of Rs. 5.49 crore on Paytm’s banking arm  Paytm Payments Bank, for alleged money laundering.

Further, the development comes months after Flipkart separated ownership of digital payment company PhonePe. The e-commerce vendor acquired PhonePe back in 2026.
