iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus to Reportedly Match iPhone 16 Pro Models in RAM

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max to Retain Same RAM as Previous Models, Report Claims

The iPhone 16 series was launched on September 9 during Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event, unveiling new hardware and software features across the lineup. This includes the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. While Apple typically avoids revealing specific RAM details during product announcements, a new report suggests that all models in the iPhone 16 series are equipped with more RAM compared to last year’s iPhone 15 models.

According to a report from MacRumors, in collaboration with @iSWUpdates, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max are all equipped with 8GB of RAM. This was allegedly discovered through the latest version of Apple’s Xcode developer tools. If accurate, this marks a notable improvement for the base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which offer 2GB more RAM than their iPhone 15 predecessors, which were equipped with 6GB of RAM.

The additional RAM, paired with Apple’s new A18 chip, could significantly improve the performance of the iPhone 16 models. This could enhance system efficiency, allowing users to benefit from advanced Apple Intelligence features and more seamless multitasking. In contrast, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, while featuring other hardware upgrades, reportedly maintain the same 8GB of RAM as last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.

This configuration aligns with Apple’s strategy to progressively increase the RAM in its non-Pro iPhones to bridge the gap between standard and Pro models, offering users more capabilities without necessarily jumping to the Pro versions. For instance, tasks like running multiple apps, working with larger files, and managing more intensive tasks should see noticeable improvements with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models’ increased RAM.

The boost in RAM for the iPhone 16 base models could also enable more efficient use of new iOS features, including those related to artificial intelligence and augmented reality. The system should perform better under heavier workloads, making the iPhone 16 lineup a more attractive choice for users looking for enhanced multitasking capabilities.

While the Pro models remain unchanged in terms of RAM, they still bring other advancements to the table, including likely improvements in processing speed, battery efficiency, and enhanced display capabilities. This makes the iPhone 16 series well-rounded, offering both standard and Pro users significant upgrades.
