Enhanced Gameplay Experience: WWE 2K24 to Feature Four New Match Types, Including Special Guest Referee and Ambulance Match
WWE 2K24, the eagerly awaited addition to 2K’s renowned annual wrestling video game series, has been officially unveiled with a scheduled release date of March 8. The game will be available on various platforms, including PC (via Steam), PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Cody Rhodes is set to grace the front cover of the Standard Edition, while the Deluxe Edition cover will feature Women’s Royal Rumble winners Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley.
To commemorate 40 years of WrestleMania, WWE 2K24 will also be released in a special Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition, showcasing iconic wrestlers from the event’s history, such as The Rock, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
The announcement from 2K was accompanied by an official trailer, providing a glimpse of live-action WWE footage and in-game action for featured stars. Developed by Visual Concepts, WWE 2K24 will introduce several franchise advancements, including the 2K Showcase of the Immortals mode, which recreates memorable matches and scenarios from WrestleMania history.
In addition to these exciting features, WWE 2K24 will debut four new match types — Special Guest Referee, Ambulance Match, Casket Match, and Gauntlet Match — along with two new MyRISE experiences. Returning WWE 2K match types include WarGames, Extreme Rules, TLC, Submission, Hell in a Cell, and more.
With a promise of a roster exceeding 200 WWE superstars, spanning legends like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Undertaker, and Andre the Giant, as well as contemporary stars such as Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, John Cena, Rhea Ripley, and Roman Reigns, the game is poised to offer an immersive and comprehensive wrestling experience. Some wrestlers on the roster can be unlocked through gameplay or pre-order purchase, enhancing the anticipation for WWE 2K24’s highly anticipated release.
The upcoming title will also be getting gameplay and visual improvements. According to 2K, WWE 2K24 will feature better animations, with updates to over 90 percent of facial expressions of wrestlers. Additionally, the game will also bring camera improvements, adding the ability to move the camera during live gameplay. Gameplay improvements will also apply to Super Finishers, the Trading Blows mini-game, Paybacks and more.
