OnePlus Open 2 Could Feature 6,000mAh Battery, Expected to Launch as Oppo Find N5 in Select Markets

OnePlus Open Features a 4,805mAh Battery with Support for 67W SuperVOOC Fast Charging

OnePlus Open was launched last year as the company’s first-ever foldable smartphone. It featured a book-style folding design, a high-resolution cover display, and Hasselblad-branded triple rear cameras, making it a notable entry in the foldable smartphone market. According to recent leaks, OnePlus is preparing a successor to this device, which could debut in 2025 as the OnePlus Open 2.

While OnePlus has yet to confirm these details, a Chinese tipster has provided more information about the anticipated OnePlus Open 2. Interestingly, the original OnePlus Open was released in China as the Oppo Find N3, raising speculation that the new OnePlus Open 2 could launch in China under the name Oppo Find N5. This cross-branding strategy suggests that the companies may continue to collaborate on foldable technologies across different regions.

Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station shared some insights on Weibo, stating that both Oppo and Vivo, owned by BBK Electronics, are working on new foldable smartphones slated for release in the first quarter of next year. The tipster claims that the devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, promising improved performance and power efficiency for these foldable devices.

In terms of battery life, the OnePlus Open 2 is rumored to feature a substantial 6,000mAh battery, a significant upgrade from the 4,805mAh unit found in the original OnePlus Open. This improvement could lead to better longevity, addressing one of the common concerns about foldable smartphones, which often have smaller battery capacities due to their compact designs.

Additionally, the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to support 67W SuperVOOC charging, ensuring quick charging times even with the larger battery. This feature, coupled with the new Snapdragon chipset, could make the device more competitive in the growing foldable phone market, which demands both high performance and efficiency.

As anticipation builds for the next generation of foldable smartphones, more details about the OnePlus Open 2 and its possible Oppo Find N5 variant are likely to emerge. Tech enthusiasts will be watching closely to see how OnePlus and Oppo continue to innovate in this rapidly evolving sector.
