Realme’s Upcoming Smartphone Teaser Hints at Periscope Camera – Potentially Realme 12 Pro+

Expected Release Window: Realme 12 Pro+ Speculated for Late January or February Launch

Realme is preparing for the imminent launch of a new smartphone in India, poised to feature a periscope zoom camera. The company has been dropping hints through social media, teasing the arrival of this new flagship device without explicitly confirming its exact name or launch date. Speculation points toward this forthcoming release being the Realme 12 Pro+. This model is expected to follow the Realme 11 Pro+ that made its debut in the country back in July.

Teasing its audience with a cryptic message, Realme’s social media post indicates the absence of a periscope, indirectly hinting at the enhanced optical zoom capabilities of its upcoming smartphone. The teaser image showcases the rear of the device with a prominent ring, suggesting the presence of the periscope camera setup. Notably, the recent release of the Realme GT 5 Pro marked the brand’s maiden flagship entry equipped with a periscope telephoto camera. While the specific name remains unconfirmed by Realme, there is growing speculation surrounding the Realme 12 Pro+ potentially being the next device in line.

Adding fuel to the speculation, noted tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) reshared the teaser image, asserting that the Realme 12 Pro+ is slated for launch either by the end of January or in February of the upcoming year. As per the leaks, the phone is anticipated to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series chipset, most likely the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.

Going over the rest of the expected Realme 12 Pro+ specifications, it is said to get a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The handset may debut in the mid-range smartphone segment priced around CNY 2,000 (roughly Rs. 23,000). It could be launched alongside the Realme 12 and Realme 12 Pro.

Realme 11 Pro+ made its India debut in June with an initial price tag of Rs. 27,999. It runs on Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0 custom skin and carries a 5,000mAh battery. The phone also features a 200-megapixel triple rear camera setup and a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC.
