Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Could Match Galaxy S24’s Slimness, Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim Variant Tipped for Late 2024 Launch: Report

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim Measures 12.1mm in Thickness

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but reports have already started surfacing about the future of the company’s foldable lineup. The South Korean tech giant is reportedly planning to make the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 as slim as its Galaxy S series smartphones. This is seen as a strategic move to maintain its competitive edge in the increasingly crowded foldable smartphone market. Rumors suggest that a new, extra-slim version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, dubbed the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, could be released later this year.

According to a report from KED Global, industry insiders have revealed that Samsung Electronics President and Head of Mobile Experience (MX) Business, TM Roh, has directed the engineering team to design an ultra-thin foldable device. The target is to achieve a thickness similar to that of the upcoming Galaxy S24, which is expected to be just 7.7mm thick. Additionally, the MX division is reportedly focused on reducing the weight of the foldable device to less than 239 grams, making it significantly lighter than previous models.

In addition to the slim profile, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to feature an 8-inch primary screen, which would be a notable upgrade over the 7.6-inch cover display on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. This larger screen could make the Galaxy Z Fold 7 an even more appealing option for users seeking a larger, more immersive display on a foldable device.

Moreover, the report hints at the possibility of a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim model being released by the end of this year. This variant could have a thickness of just 10mm, further pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with foldable technology. If Samsung can achieve this level of thinness, it would set a new standard for the industry and pave the way for even thinner foldable devices in the future.
