Just as the Google Pixel 8 gains momentum in the market, glimpses of the anticipated Pixel 9 are already surfacing online, offering a sneak peek into the potential design overhaul for the upcoming flagship smartphone. The leaked renders showcase the device in a striking blue hue, hinting at a substantial transformation with the inclusion of three rear cameras—a notable departure from the dual-camera setup characteristic of its predecessors. Notably, it appears that Google has reimagined the rear camera module, aligning it with the flattened edges reminiscent of the Pixel 9 Pro. A hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera further underscores the device’s modern design approach.

Renowned tipster Steve H. McFly, in collaboration with 91Mobiles, has brought forth CAD-based renders and specifications for the Pixel 9, shedding light on its compact design with flattened sides, drawing comparisons to the sleek iPhone 15 series. The revamped rear camera module accommodates three sensors and an LED flash, signifying a significant leap forward for the standard Pixel line. In a departure from the horizontal camera bar seen on previous models, the Pixel 9 opts for an oval-shaped island akin to the Pixel Fold, hinting at a refined aesthetic.

Noteworthy is the addition of a new periscope telephoto lens within the camera unit, elevating the Pixel 9’s photography capabilities. This shift towards a triple-camera configuration and enhanced design elements brings the regular Pixel iteration more closely aligned with its Pro counterpart, marking a considerable upgrade in specifications. The leaked images and details collectively indicate that Google is poised to set a new standard with the Pixel 9, marrying cutting-edge technology with a sleek and modern design.

The Pixel 9 is seen in a blue colour in the leaked images. The handset could be offered in multiple colour options during the launch. Further, the screen has a centrally located single hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera.

Google’s Pixel 9 is said to measure 152.8×71.9×8.5mm. It is expected to sport a 6.1-inch screen, down from the Pixel 8’s 6.2-inch screen.

Google is expected to announce the Pixel 9 series in October. The handset could run on Android 15 and the company’s in-house Tensor G4 SoC.
