X, formerly known as Twitter, recently divulged its impressive year-on-year growth metrics concerning video consumption and the duration users spend engaging with videos. This disclosure underscores the platform’s robust inclination towards video-centric content consumption. CEO Linda Yaccarino further corroborated this trend by acknowledging the platform’s burgeoning prominence in the realm of video content.

Notably, the platform’s owner, Elon Musk, has been vocal about the imperative to prioritize video content and has spearheaded the introduction of several new video-centric features since assuming control of the company. Just last month, X rolled out audio and video calling functionalities for all its users.

This insightful data was disseminated via X Data, the official data-sharing channel of the platform. According to the announcement, the social media behemoth has witnessed a remarkable 35 percent year-on-year surge in video views. This statistic signifies that the aggregate views of videos on the platform have escalated by more than a third compared to the preceding fiscal year. Moreover, the announcement also highlights a 17 percent year-on-year increase in the total time spent by users engaging with videos.

Furthermore, the report contends that a staggering four out of every five user sessions now encompass watching at least one video. CEO Yaccarino echoed these sentiments by reposting the announcement and declaring, “X is becoming a video-first platform.” The exponential growth in video consumption is undoubtedly aligned with Musk’s ambitious vision to transform the platform into a video-centric hub. Since assuming leadership of the social media juggernaut, Musk has overseen the rollout of a plethora of video-centric features aimed at enhancing user experience and solidifying X’s position in the digital landscape.

Notably, X owner Elon Musk has emphasised the importance of becoming video-first and released several new video-centric features ever since he took over the company. Last month, X introduced audio and video calling features for all users.

The information was shared by X Data, the official data-sharing account of the platform. As per the post, the social media giant has grown by 35 percent year-on-year in terms of video views. This indicates that the overall views of videos on the platform have grown more than one-third since the previous financial year. In addition, the post also added that the total time spent on videos has increased by 17 percent year-on-year.

Further, the account claimed that four out of every five user sessions now include watching at least one video. CEO Yaccarino reshared the post and said, “X is becoming a video first platform”. The growth in video consumption comes on the back of Musk’s ambitions to create a video-centric platform. Ever since he took control of the social media giant, the platform has released multiple video features for users.
