2024 Mac Mini to Feature Up to M4 Pro Chipset and New Design, According to Report

Upcoming Mac Mini Expected to Have a Smaller Design, Similar to the Apple TV 4K

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a redesigned Mac Mini, which is expected to be the smallest version of the device ever produced. According to a Bloomberg report, the upcoming model may debut in the coming months and will feature a form factor reminiscent of Apple’s compact Apple TV 4K. This new Mac Mini will be powered by Apple’s latest chipsets, including the M4 and M4 Pro, with the M4 having recently made its debut in the iPad Pro (2024).

The next-generation Mac Mini, codenamed J773, is said to retain its iconic aluminium body but with a more compact design. While the overall dimensions are expected to be smaller compared to the current Mac Mini (2023) model, the new version will still be slightly taller than the Apple TV 4K. The existing Mac Mini stands 35mm tall, whereas the Apple TV 4K measures around 31mm in height. This redesign is aimed at creating a more compact footprint while still providing ample performance and functionality.

Despite the size reduction, the new Mac Mini will likely offer significant upgrades in terms of processing power and efficiency. The inclusion of the M4 and M4 Pro chipsets promises enhanced performance and capabilities, building on the advancements introduced with the M4 in the recent iPad Pro. These chipsets are expected to provide a substantial boost in speed and power, making the Mac Mini a more competitive option in the desktop computing market.

The redesign will also include a new design ethos while preserving the familiar aluminium exterior. Apple is known for its meticulous approach to design, and this new Mac Mini will likely reflect its ongoing commitment to combining aesthetics with functionality. The move towards a more compact design aligns with Apple’s broader trend of minimizing the physical footprint of its devices while maximizing performance.

The redesigned Mac Mini could be a significant step forward for Apple’s lineup, offering users a more compact and powerful option at an affordable price point. The Mac Mini has traditionally been Apple’s entry-level desktop computer, and these updates aim to enhance its appeal by leveraging the latest advancements in chip technology and design.

As the anticipated launch approaches, Apple enthusiasts and industry observers will be closely watching for official announcements and further details. The new Mac Mini is expected to continue Apple’s trend of innovation in its product design, potentially setting new standards for compact desktop computing
