MG Windsor EV Expands Company’s Electric Vehicle Lineup Alongside MG ZS and Comet

MG Windsor EV Launched in India: A New Era of Intelligent Crossover Utility Vehicles

On Wednesday, MG Motor India officially launched the MG Windsor electric vehicle (EV), marking a significant milestone for the brand. Described as the company’s first “intelligent CUV” (Crossover Utility Vehicle), the Windsor EV draws its name from the iconic Windsor Castle in the UK. Built on MG’s innovative ‘Pure EV’ platform, this new model is essentially a rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud EV, which has gained popularity in Indonesia and other markets. The Windsor EV offers an impressive range of up to 331 km, making it a viable option for both urban commuting and longer trips.

Innovative Features and Technology

The MG Windsor EV is packed with advanced features designed to enhance the driving experience. It boasts Aero Lounge seats that prioritize comfort, along with an Infinity View glass roof that allows natural light to flood the interior, creating a spacious and airy environment. In addition, the vehicle includes voice command functionality powered by artificial intelligence (AI), enabling drivers to interact with their cars in a more intuitive manner. Leveraging MG’s i-SMART technology, the Windsor EV comes equipped with over 80 connected features that allow for seamless integration with smartphones and other devices.

Strategic Launch in a New Joint Venture

The launch of the MG Windsor EV is notable as it is the first vehicle introduced since the establishment of JSW MG Motor India, a joint venture between India’s JSW Group and China-based SAIC Motor. This partnership signifies a commitment to enhancing the company’s presence in the Indian automotive market. The Windsor EV joins the ranks of other electric vehicles offered by MG, including the popular MG ZS EV and the compact Comet EV, further diversifying the company’s electric vehicle lineup.

Pricing and Availability

The MG Windsor EV is competitively priced, starting at Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). MG has labeled this as introductory pricing, indicating that it may increase in the future. Pre-reservations for the vehicle have already commenced, with exclusive test drives available starting September 26. Bookings for the Windsor EV will officially open on October 3. Customers can choose from three variants: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence, along with four attractive color options: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

Battery as a Service (BaaS) Program

In a bid to make electric vehicle ownership more accessible, MG has introduced a Battery as a Service (BaaS) program with the Windsor EV. This innovative approach allows buyers to eliminate the upfront cost of the battery, opting instead to pay only for its usage. The program starts at Rs. 3.5 per kilometer for battery usage, making it a flexible financial option for potential buyers.

Additional Owner Benefits and Assurances

To further incentivize buyers, MG is offering a lifetime battery warranty for the first owners of the Windsor EV. Additionally, owners can enjoy one year of free public charging through the eHUB by MG app. For those concerned about resale value, MG provides a 3-60 month assured buyback plan that guarantees 60 percent of the vehicle’s value for up to three years or a mileage of 45,000 kilometers—whichever comes first. This plan is designed to give customers peace of mind as they transition to electric mobility.

Overall, the MG Windsor EV is positioned as an innovative and accessible option for consumers looking to embrace electric mobility in India, showcasing the brand’s commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge technology.
