Tecno Introduces Innovation with W-Shaped Adjustable Physical Aperture, Liquid Telephoto Macro Lens, and Universal Tone Technology
Cutting-Edge Tech for Tecno Phantom X: W-Shaped Aperture, Liquid Telephoto Macro Lens, and Universal Tone Technology Expected in Future Models
Tecno has recently introduced three groundbreaking camera technologies poised to elevate the imaging capabilities of its upcoming smartphones. These advancements aim to enhance the overall photography experience and raise the bar for image output quality.
The trio of innovations includes the W-shaped Adjustable Physical Aperture, the Liquid Telephoto Macro Lens—touted as an industry-first—and the Universal Tone imaging solution. Leveraging artificial intelligence, bionic vision, and other cutting-edge features, Tecno asserts that these technologies will deliver superior photo quality compared to their predecessors.
Unveiled at Tecno’s Future Lens 2023 event in Shanghai, these innovations are set to feature in upcoming smartphones slated for release in the coming year. While the official press release did not disclose specific models, it is highly anticipated that these features will make their mark in the next Tecno Phantom X lineup. The Phantom X2 and X2 Pro were notably launched in China in December 2022.
One standout technology, the W-shaped Adjustable Physical Aperture, harnesses the power of bionic vision to address challenges posed by over-exposed and strongly backlit photos. Tecno claims that this technology enables more precise light management compared to conventional lenses, effectively eliminating glares and achieving an optimal balance between light and shadows in captured photographs. This innovation exemplifies Tecno’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of mobile photography and delivering an enhanced visual experience for users.
The Liquid Telephoto Macro Lens, on the other hand, claims to be the first application of the technology in a smartphone periscope telephoto camera.
It claims to improve focus speed and facilitate a smoother zoom experience. It is said to use voltage to adjust the lens curvature instead of other low-yield but expensive methods seen in traditional lenses. With the help of a large sensor, this feature is said to offer image outputs with minute, precise details but in a compact form factor.
Lastly, Tecno has focussed on developing a technology that may help the phone cameras recreate skin tones closer to reality than is seen with most other phone cameras in the market. Tecno claims that with its Universal Tone technology users will receive comprehensive skin tone data reflected in their images. This AI-supported feature is the product of rigorous research involving teams from leading universities. It is said to offer vibrant, true-to-life portraits and videos.
