Borderless Capital, a Web3 Investment Firm, Acquires CTF Capital to Enhance AI and Quantitative Expertise
Borderless Capital, a leading investment firm specializing in web3, made a significant announcement on Tuesday, revealing its acquisition of CTF Capital, a quantitative trading and asset management firm headquartered in Miami with technology and operation teams based in Latin America. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, this marks Borderless’ inaugural acquisition since its establishment in 2018.
This strategic move enables Borderless Capital to integrate AI-infused quantitative trading expertise into its operations while expanding its geographical footprint into Latin America. The firm plans to establish a new office in Argentina, a prominent hub for technological innovation in web3, during the second quarter of this year.
CTF Capital has developed advanced trading models and capabilities leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) strategy engines, automated market making (AMM) technology for decentralized exchanges, and maximal extractable value (MEV) strategies. MEV strategy enables block miners to capitalize on transaction order manipulation within decentralized finance, crucial in the rapidly evolving web3 landscape where digital assets and blockchains experience rapid fluctuations.
Following the integration, Borderless Capital’s assets under management (AUM) will exceed $500 million. The firm manages a diverse range of funds, including a $50 million cross-chain fund and the Algorand Fund. All existing funds managed by CTF Capital will be consolidated into Borderless’s Multi-Strategy Fund V LP, launched last year with $100 million under management. This open-ended hedge fund focuses on delivering risk-adjusted maximum returns for investors across liquid and soon-to-be-liquid digital assets.
The entire team of CTF Capital, comprising 11 staff members, including two partners, has joined Borderless Capital, bolstering the firm’s total team to nearly 40 employees post-acquisition.
David Garcia, co-founder and managing partner at Borderless Capital, highlighted CTF Capital’s extensive experience in developing a machine learning and AI-powered blockchain investment platform over the past three years. He emphasized the acquisition’s potential to unlock synergies and expand Borderless’ presence in Latin America, leveraging a new cohort of limited partners (LPs) from the region and fostering growth opportunities.
Borderless Capital’s strategic positioning in Latin America, coupled with its diverse portfolio and client base, underscores its commitment to providing tailored services and fostering direct engagement with investors in the region, facilitated by the establishment of a local office in Argentina.
