Amazon integrates Amazon Clinic into the One Medical brand
Amazon has integrated its Amazon Clinic telehealth service into its primary care business, One Medical, as announced on Thursday.
In a blog post, Amazon detailed that the service has been rebranded as Amazon One Medical Pay-per-visit to streamline its primary care offerings. The updated service now features more affordable pricing options, allowing customers to pay $49 for a video call visit or $29 for a text message consultation with a doctor.
Amazon’s focus on healthcare remains strong amidst the growing landscape of health tech startups, particularly in virtual care. This move could potentially impact competitors such as Carbon Health, Galileo, and Summer Health.
Operating under the One Medical brand, Amazon offers customers two main options: a telehealth service covering over 30 common conditions like acne, eczema, flu, pink eye, seasonal allergies, and sinus infections; or a membership option providing on-demand virtual care and next-day in-person appointments at more than 150 One Medical offices across the U.S. The membership costs $9 per month or $99 per year for Prime members, and $199 per year for non-Prime customers.
The pay-per-visit service caters to customers who may not have easy access to a physical Amazon One Medical office or who already have a primary care provider but need quick access for specific health concerns. It operates without requiring insurance, and accepts payments through FSA/HSA accounts.
Amazon’s commitment to healthcare has grown significantly, highlighted by its nearly $4 billion acquisition of One Medical. The company initially launched Clinic in 2022 as a virtual health storefront, offering one-time telehealth services to customers. That same year, Amazon discontinued its employee-focused virtual primary care service, Amazon Care, which aimed to blend telehealth with in-person medical services for its workforce.
