Android 15 May Introduce Colour Correction Intensity Slider for Increased Accessibility: Report

With the new accessibility feature in Android 15, users may be able to compensate for the specific degree of their inability to see colours.

Android 15, the next big operating system for Android devices, is expected to be rolled out later this year. It was first previewed in February, with Google declaring last month that it had reached “platform stability,” enabling developers to integrate new features with their applications. Ahead of its official rollout, a new report suggests that the update may bring a new accessibility feature in the form of a color correction intensity slider, aimed at helping those with color blindness.

According to a report by Android Authority, an intensity slider for the color correction feature could be introduced with Android 15. For the unaware, this feature enables users with color blindness to select one of the color correction modes, depending on their color vision deficiency.

The new intensity slider is said to bring three intensity values: low, medium, and high. Users may reportedly be able to manually adjust the intensity of the color correction that happens when a particular mode is selected, compensating for the specific degree of their inability to see colors, namely deuteranomaly, protanomaly, or tritanomaly.

This enhancement is expected to significantly improve the accessibility experience for users with varying degrees of color vision deficiency. By allowing users to fine-tune the intensity of color correction, Android 15 aims to provide a more personalized and effective solution for color blindness.

The addition of this feature highlights Google’s commitment to making Android more inclusive and user-friendly. As accessibility continues to be a priority in software development, features like the color correction intensity slider are a step forward in ensuring that everyone can have a better experience with their devices.

As the official release date for Android 15 approaches, more details about this and other new features are likely to emerge. Users and developers alike are eagerly anticipating the enhancements that this update will bring to the Android ecosystem.
