Apple Claims iPhone 15 Series Boasts Extended Battery Cycle Lifespan Compared to Predecessors

Extended Battery Longevity: iPhone 15 Series Retains 80% Capacity After Double Charge Cycles, Apple Discloses

Apple has recently disclosed that the iPhone 15 series boasts an extended battery cycle lifespan compared to its predecessors. Updated documentation from the company outlines that these latest smartphone models can maintain 80 percent of their battery capacity after undergoing twice as many charge cycles as previous iPhone iterations. Furthermore, with the forthcoming iOS 17.4 update, users will gain access to enhanced battery health monitoring within the Settings app.

According to Apple’s revised battery and performance support document, the iPhone 15 lineup is engineered to retain 80 percent of its original battery capacity even after 1000 complete charge cycles under ideal conditions. In contrast, earlier iPhone models, including the iPhone 14 series, are designed to maintain the same capacity after only 500 charge cycles.

Apple clarified that these updated figures stem from its latest rigorous testing procedures conducted specifically for the iPhone 15 lineup. These tests involve comprehensive charging and discharging cycles under controlled conditions.

Moreover, Apple affirmed its ongoing commitment to refining battery components and optimizing the power management system across its iPhone range, ensuring sustained performance and longevity for users’ devices.

If you own an iPhone 15 series smartphone, you can open the Settings app and tap on General > About to see detailed statistics related to the phone’s battery such as manufacture date, first use date, and the charging cycle count. These statistics are no available on the iPhone 14 and older models. When iOS 17.4 arrives in the coming days, you will be able to find these battery statistics in a different location in the Settings app.

With the arrival of the iPhone 15 series last year, Apple added new battery statistics to the Settings app — these are only available for the latest iPhone models. With the upcoming iOS 17.4 update, owners of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be able to view these statistics along with the health of their phone’s battery by visiting Settings > Battery > Battery Health.
