Elon Musk’s xAI Initiates Deployment of Grok AI Chatbot for X Premium+ Subscribers in the US

Real-Time Insights: xAI’s Grok AI Chatbot Utilizes X’s Knowledge to Provide Informed Responses, Even to Sensitive Queries.

Grok, the AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s xAI, has commenced its rollout on X (formerly Twitter), offering a distinctive alternative to existing chatbots like ChatGPT. This witty and irreverent ChatGPT competitor is exclusively available to Premium+ subscribers of X. Grok sets itself apart by assimilating real-time knowledge of the world through X and fearlessly responding to sensitive or controversial questions, including the use of profanity.

X officially announced on Friday that Grok’s rollout to Premium+ subscribers will occur gradually on Web, iOS, and Android over the coming week. Initially, access to the AI chatbot will be limited to users in the United States, with no specific timeline provided for a broader release.

Users can easily locate Grok on the side menu of the Web version of X or the updated X app on iOS and Android. For added convenience, users can customize their navigation preferences by adding Grok to the bottom menu through Premium > Preferences > Extras > Custom Navigation.

The duration of a user’s Premium+ subscription determines the timing of their access to Grok, as mentioned in the official announcement on X. Early users have already shared screenshots showcasing their interactions with Grok, testing its humorous responses, and even prompting it to roast Elon Musk based on his X posts. Grok comfortably handles “spicy” questions and engages in playful banter with users, including jokes at the user’s expense. One of the default prompt suggestions for the chatbot is “Roast me Grok.”

In Musk’s earlier announcement, he revealed that xAI, his artificial intelligence startup, would seamlessly integrate into the X platform and also be available as a standalone app. Musk positioned xAI as a “maximum truth-seeking AI,” distinguishing it from rivals like OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft. He emphasized Grok’s significant advantage of real-time access to information via the X platform, setting it apart from other models.

Grok was first announced last month for X Premium+ subscribers as a rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Bard, and Microsoft’s Copilot. The chatbot can access real-time information via X, generate conversation responses to queries, and take on controversial topics. The chatbot is powered by Grok-1 large language model, which has undergone several iterations over time.

An X Premium+ subscription, which grants access to Grok, comes in at Rs. 13,600 for the annual plan or Rs. 1,300 monthly on the Web. On iOS, the annual plan costs Rs. 22,900, while the monthly plan comes in at Rs. 2,299.
