The highly anticipated Asus ROG Phone 8 series is poised to make its grand debut at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. Recent leaks have been buzzing with information hinting at the lineup, which is expected to feature the ROG Phone 8 and a more advanced ROG Phone 8 Pro. Notably, its predecessor line-up introduced a standard version and a top-tier variant tagged with the ‘Ultimate’ label. Fresh design renders of the ROG Phone 8 models have recently emerged online, building excitement among eager enthusiasts. Adding to the anticipation, the company has officially teased the base model’s display design and announced the imminent India launch date.
Asus India took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that the Asus ROG Phone 8 will hit the Indian market on January 8, aligning with its global unveiling at CES 2024. Accompanying this announcement was a teaser video showcasing the upcoming model, highlighting its “edgeless frame.” Noteworthy in the teaser was the display’s sleeker bezels compared to its predecessors. However, there was no explicit mention regarding the potential launch of the ROG Phone 8 Pro in the country.
Numerous leaks have shed light on crucial specifications of both the Asus ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro. Expectations point towards the devices running on the Android 14-based ROG UI, featuring expansive 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screens shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Pro iteration is anticipated to support HDR10 with an impressive refresh rate reaching up to 165Hz.
Asus has officially confirmed that the powerhouse behind the ROG Phone 8 series will be Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Speculations suggest the base model might offer configurations of up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, while the top-tier variant could potentially provide options with 16GB and 24GB of RAM coupled with 512GB and 1TB of built-in storage, catering to diverse user needs and preferences.
The Pro model of the Asus ROG Phone 8 lineup is also tipped to carry a triple rear camera unit including a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary sensor, a 13-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto shooter. The front camera of the ROG Phone 8 Pro is said to come with a 32-megapixel sensor. Camera details of the base model are not yet known.
Asus ROG Phone 8 series models are also tipped to pack 5,500mAh batteries with Quick Charge 5.0 and PD charging support. The phones may also carry an IP68 rating for dust and splash resistance.
