Fintech company Wise reports that some of its customers were affected by the Evolve Bank data breach

Wise, the money transfer and fintech company, announced on Friday that some of its customers’ personal data might have been compromised due to the recent data breach at Evolve Bank and Trust. This incident underscores the potential widespread impact of the Evolve data breach on various third-party companies and their customers.

Wise revealed that it collaborated with Evolve from 2020 until 2023 to provide USD account details. Consequently, some Wise customers’ personal information may have been exposed. The company stated on its official website that it will be contacting affected customers directly via email.

The personal data shared with Evolve by Wise included names, addresses, dates of birth, contact details, and Social Security numbers or Employer Identification Numbers for U.S. customers. For non-U.S. customers, Wise provided another identity document number.

Wise is still actively investigating the breach and has not yet determined the total number of affected customers. This situation highlights the broader implications of the Evolve data breach, with potentially more companies and startups being impacted than currently known.
