Lea Pericoli, the celebrated Italian tennis player and fashion icon of the 1950s and 60s, passed away at the age of 89. Born on March 22, 1935, in Milan, Pericoli was a trailblazer in both the world of tennis and fashion. She is remembered for her strong performances on the court, reaching the last 16 of the French Open twice and advancing to the fourth round of Wimbledon three times.
Though her tennis skills earned her recognition, it was her bold and distinctive style that truly captured the public’s imagination. Pericoli became renowned for her match outfits adorned with feathers, fur, and other elaborate designs, blending athleticism with haute couture in a way that had never been seen in the sport.
