Leaked iPhone 16 Blueprints Hint at Familiar Rear Camera Setup, Resembling iPhone 12 and iPhone X Designs

New iPhone 16 Models Expected to Introduce Spatial Video Recording Feature

The upcoming iPhone 16 series, anticipated for release in the latter half of the year, promises significant design enhancements. It’s reported that both the standard iPhone 16 and its Plus variant will showcase a redesigned rear camera module, featuring vertically aligned lenses akin to the layout found in the iPhone 12.

This marks a departure from the diagonal alignment seen in the current iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models. Alongside this change, Apple is rumored to introduce Spatial Video recording capabilities to the base models of the iPhone 16 series, a feature currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro lineup.

Recent leaks, including a mock-up shared by MacRumors, depict the rear panel of the iPhone 16, showcasing a vertical camera setup housed within a pill-shaped camera bump. The arrangement comprises wide and ultra-wide angle lenses, along with a flash, neatly organized within two separate camera rings. This design fusion appears to draw inspiration from both the iPhone X and iPhone 12 aesthetics, as depicted in schematics shared by Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) on X.

With these advancements, Apple aims to democratize Spatial Video recording, making it accessible on the base models of the upcoming iPhone 16 series. Presently, only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models offer this feature, while the standard iPhone 15 models miss out due to their diagonal camera configuration.

The iPhone 16 series is likely to launch in September this year. Apple is said to pack an A18 Pro Bionic chip based on a 3nm process on the Pro models, while the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus could run on a toned-down version of the A17 Pro chip.

Apple is expected to retain the Snapdragon X70 modem in the next iPhone series. The Pro models are said to come with Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and might get a new ultra-wide lens on the rear. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumoured to come with larger displays than the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Additionally, Apple could add a Capture Button on the iPhone 16 Pro models.
