Dual Variants: iQoo Z9 5G Sporting MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC in Indian Edition
Scheduled for release on March 12th in India, the iQoo Z9 5G is generating considerable buzz with its MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. However, as anticipation mounts, leaks from a Chinese tipster shed light on the specifications of the iQoo Z9 and iQoo Z9x for the Chinese market. Interestingly, the Chinese variant of the iQoo Z9 is rumored to house the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, while its counterpart, the iQoo Z9x, is purportedly equipped with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC. Notably, both models are anticipated to boast a robust 6,000mAh battery, promising enduring performance to users.
According to insights shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the iQoo Z9 is expected to flaunt a sizable 6.8-inch 1.5K 2D OLED display with a resolution of 1,260×2,800 pixels, complemented by the formidable Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC.
This revelation hints at significant discrepancies between the Chinese and Indian variants of the iQoo Z9, with the latter already confirmed to house the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. The divergence in specifications underscores iQoo’s strategy of tailoring its offerings to specific regional markets, catering to diverse consumer preferences and technological landscapes.
Meanwhile, details regarding the iQoo Z9x suggest a different direction, with an LCD panel featuring full-HD+ resolution anticipated alongside the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC.
Despite these variations, the common thread of a robust 6,000mAh battery underscores iQoo’s commitment to delivering enduring performance across its lineup. As enthusiasts eagerly await the official unveiling of these devices, the leaks serve to intensify anticipation, offering tantalizing glimpses into iQoo’s vision for its upcoming smartphone offerings.
The iQoo Z9 5G will launch in India on March 12. A dedicated microsite on Amazon and the iQoo India website is teasing the design and some of the specifications of the handset. It has a dual rear camera unit, comprising a Sony IMX882 sensor with support for optical image stabilisation.
The iQoo Z9 5G is anticipated to be the successor to last year’s iQoo Z7 5G. The latter was launched with a price tag of Rs. 18,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The iQoo Z8x could debut as a successor to iQoo Z7x, which was unveiled in China in March last year for CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs. 15,600) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.
