Leaked Specs: Oppo Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro Hint at Impressive Features, Including 50-Megapixel Telephoto Camera

Reno 12 Pro Rumored to Pack MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Chipset, Boosting Performance

Fresh from the recent launch of the Oppo Reno 11 and Oppo Reno 11 Pro, Oppo seems poised to introduce its successor, the Oppo Reno 12 series, in the near future. According to a recent report, key specifications of the upcoming smartphones have been unveiled through an alleged internal document leak.

The leaked information suggests that the Oppo Reno 12 lineup could feature a prominent 50-megapixel telephoto lens equipped with 2x optical zoom. Furthermore, the document hints at a potential launch window in June 2024, although specific pricing details remain undisclosed at this time.

The purported leaked document, obtained by MSPowerUser, sheds light on the key specifications of both models in the Oppo Reno 12 series. Notably, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro is rumored to be powered by a chipset referred to as ‘MediaTek Dimension 9200’, known by its technical moniker MTK DX2, which corresponds to the MediaTek Dimensity 9200.

Conversely, the standard Oppo Reno 12 might be equipped with a chipset identified as MKT 24M, although no existing processor by the company matches this designation. However, as Gadgets 360 was unable to independently verify the alleged document, its claims remain unverified.

According to the report, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro is expected to flaunt a sizable 6.7-inch OLED display boasting a high refresh rate of 120Hz, complemented by curved edges on the rear glass back. The smartphone is speculated to house a sophisticated triple rear camera setup, headlined by a robust 50-megapixel primary camera featuring optical image stabilization (OIS). Accompanying lenses include an 8-megapixel sensor and the aforementioned 50-megapixel telephoto lens, offering 2x optical zoom capabilities for enhanced photography experiences.

On the front, it could get a 50-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus. The alleged document claims that the handset will get 12GB of RAM and two inbuilt storage variants of 256GB and 512GB. It could be backed by a 5,000mAh battery, with 67W charging support. The document also mentions an IP65 rating.

In contrast, the vanilla Oppo Reno 12 might get a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Just like the display specifications, the smartphone reportedly gets the same camera unit as the Pro variant. However, one difference is that the front camera will not have autofocus, as per the report. The handset could feature 12GB RAM along with 256GB inbuilt storage. A 5,000mAh battery, with 67W charging support, could back the device.

Based on the leak, the only two differences between the Oppo Reno 12 and the Oppo Reno 12 Pro appear to be the chipset and autofocus feature in the front camera. Another piece of information that reportedly came from the document was that the smartphones could be launched in June 2024. However, it must be said that it is very early into the development cycle of the Oppo Renno 11 series successor, and a lot might change by the time the handsets are launched.
