Next-Gen Samsung Foldables Set to Integrate Cutting-Edge AI Capabilities, Says Report

Samsung Gauss to Drive AI Innovations in Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, Report Reveals

Samsung is gearing up to revolutionize smartphone AI with its upcoming releases, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. These devices are expected to introduce groundbreaking “advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features,” marking a significant leap forward in smartphone technology. A recent report unveils a patent application filed by the South Korean tech giant, shedding light on the innovative capabilities to come. While the existing GalaxyAI suite already offers AI-driven functionalities, the patent hints at new advancements in summary creation, tailored to user preferences.

As reported by South Korean outlet Chosun Biz (via tipster @Tech_Reve), the patent application surfaced on the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) website. It outlines Samsung’s endeavor to patent an AI technology capable of generating document summaries leveraging Samsung Gauss, the company’s proprietary large language model (LLM) and the cornerstone of Galaxy AI.

The technology described in the patent goes beyond conventional summary generation. Users will have the ability to instruct the AI to produce summaries in specific styles, such as ‘short and neutral’ or ‘long and with a negative tone’. An illustrative example from the patent showcases the AI’s adaptability: when prompted to summarize an article on the “South Korea – US summit agenda” in a brief and neutral manner, it highlighted keywords like ‘North Korea, nuclear weapons, missiles, and South Korea – US military exercises’. However, upon requesting a lengthy summary with a negative tone, the AI articulated potential ramifications, stating, “If differences of opinion between South Korea and the United States are exposed over the solution to North Korea, it could pour cold water on the upcoming South Korea – US summit.”

This innovative approach not only streamlines information consumption but also reflects Samsung’s commitment to personalized user experiences. By integrating AI capabilities into its flagship foldable devices, Samsung aims to redefine the boundaries of smartphone functionality and convenience. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 are poised to offer not just cutting-edge hardware but also intelligent software enhancements that adapt to users’ needs and preferences seamlessly.

In an era where information overload is a common challenge, these AI-driven features promise to simplify content digestion and empower users with actionable insights. Whether it’s staying abreast of current events or researching complex topics, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 equipped with advanced AI capabilities are set to become indispensable tools for users seeking efficiency and sophistication in their digital lives. As the boundaries between human interaction and machine intelligence blur, Samsung’s foray into AI-driven smartphone innovation heralds a new era of personalized technology experiences.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be the first smartphones by the company to feature what is being called “advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features”. According to a report, a patent application by the South Korean tech giant has surfaced online which hints at a document summarising feature. While such a feature already exists within the GalaxyAI suite, the patent application points towards some new functionalities in summary creation that will consider user preferences as well.

According to a report by South Korean outlet Chosun Biz (via tipster @Tech_Reve), Samsung’s patent application was seen on the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) website. The application was filed to patent an AI technology that can create document summaries using Samsung Gauss. Notably, Gauss is the tech giant’s native large language model (LLM) and remains at the heart of Galaxy AI.
