Rec emerges from stealth to revolutionize Parks & Recreation management and booking

Rec, a new startup emerging from stealth mode, aims to revolutionize the local recreation experience by addressing the shortcomings of outdated systems prevalent in many park and recreation organizations.

Founded by two former Uber Eats employees, Birju Kadakia and Rachel Williams, Rec offers a comprehensive platform designed to enhance the experience for residents, community organizers, coaches, and city staff alike.

For residents, Rec provides an intuitive interface to discover available reservation slots, book lessons, and stay informed about upcoming events in their area. Instructors have the flexibility to organize group clinics or offer private classes through the platform.

Meanwhile, Parks & Recreation departments gain access to a suite of tools for booking management, workforce organization, and marketing initiatives. City staff benefit from a centralized dashboard providing insights into usage metrics and resource availability.

Kadakia and Williams were motivated to launch Rec based on their own frustrations with the local recreation experience.

Drawing from their backgrounds in product development and enterprise operations, they seek to modernize and streamline recreational activities, making them more accessible and enjoyable for communities. As Williams explains, despite technological advancements in other aspects of daily life, the local recreation experience often remains anchored in outdated practices, emphasizing the need for innovation in this space.
