Revamped Telegram Update Unveils Redesigned Calls and Thanos Snap-Style Animation for Deleted Messages Alongside Other Enhancements

Efficient Calls Interface: Reduced Battery Drain & Improved Performance on Older Devices

Telegram, a widely-used messaging platform, has recently unveiled a comprehensive update introducing several enhancements to its calling feature, a novel animation for message deletion, and significant advancements to its bot platform. This update follows closely on the heels of the Christmas update, which enriched the app with customizable channel appearances and the ability to share posts in stories. Currently available on both Android and iOS platforms, the latest Telegram 10.5.0 update, launched on December 31, introduces notable improvements to calling.

The completely revamped calling interface now boasts dynamic animations and adaptive backgrounds that dynamically change according to call statuses—be it incoming, active, or ended. Significantly, Telegram emphasizes that this revamped interface is more resource-efficient, promising reduced battery consumption and enhanced performance on older devices. Furthermore, the update addresses call quality with enhancements already implemented and hints at more improvements in connection and audio quality in the pipeline.

Notably, the update also introduces a captivating Thanos snap-style animation for message deletion. Initially experimented with auto-deleted messages on iOS back in November, this disintegration animation now accompanies any deleted message across both iOS and Android versions of the Telegram app, enhancing the user experience with an engaging visual element.

Lastly, Telegram has also rolled out what it claims to be the largest update to its bot platform in history. Telegram bots let developers add more automated tools and features to the messaging app. “…bots can now react to messages and manage reactions, quotes, and links, send replies to other chats or topics, and much more,” the Telegram blog said.

Back in October last year, a Telegram update brought advanced reply options, letting users quote specific parts of any message and reply to those. The app also received link preview customisation options and account colour customisations for Premium users.
