Rumored: Vivo X100 Pro+ Could Boast 200-Megapixel Periscope Telephoto Camera, Potential H1 2024 Launch

Vivo recently unveiled its latest models, the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro, on a global scale, slated for an upcoming debut in India on January 4. These smartphones mark the evolution from their predecessors, the Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro, introduced in February of the same year. Adding to this lineup is the highly anticipated Vivo X100 Pro+, the speculated successor to the Vivo X90 Pro+. Initial insights into the Pro+ variant had emerged online, and a leak by prominent tipster Digital Chat Station has now shed light on its camera specifications.

According to a Weibo post by the tipster, the Vivo X100 Pro+ is anticipated to house a cutting-edge 200-megapixel sensor complemented by a 1/1.5-inch periscope telephoto lens. This lens is projected to offer a substantial 4.3x optical zoom capability, promising images with resolution akin to a 10-megapixel periscope lens capable of up to 10x optical zoom. Moreover, the setup is expected to support a remarkable 200-megapixel digital zoom when combined.

Earlier leaks had hinted at the possibility of the Vivo X100 Pro+ featuring a primary rear sensor boasting 50-megapixels with the Sony LYT-900 tag. Additionally, reports had surfaced suggesting the inclusion of a 50-megapixel Sony IMX589 sensor for an ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel IMX758 sensor dedicated to portrait photography.

Anticipated for an unveiling in the first half of 2024, the Vivo X100 Pro+ might emerge in the market under the name Vivo X100 Ultra, as per recent speculations. Prior reports shed light on the expected specifications, indicating that the device could be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and house a robust 5,400mAh battery supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging capabilities.

Display-wise, it’s rumored to feature a 6.78-inch Samsung E7 AMOLED panel with a remarkable 2K resolution and an impressive 120Hz refresh rate, promising an enhanced visual experience.

Moreover, reports suggest that the Vivo X100 Pro+ is likely to ship with Android 14-based OriginOS 4 and obtain an IP68 rating for dust and splash resistance, mirroring the features seen in its predecessors, the Vivo X100 Pro and Vivo X100 models. Notably, the base and Pro models were launched with MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipsets, 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED screens, and Zeiss-branded triple rear camera setups, which have already set a high standard within the Vivo lineup.
